not a good take, he gave them a head start of one goal, regardless, he then ignored the two handed push for our penalty which was far more a penalty than theirs., so that's a two goal head start. Doesn't matter about the other chances, they're irrelevant in the context of the bad decisions, but even in teh context of the game, you shouldn't need to be 3 goals better than your opponents simply because the ref is awful.

I understand and agree with what you are saying but I think you are getting a little mixed up in order of play but that doesn't detract from the point you are making. Our penalty shout comes before their's which I didn't think was a penalty (Fulham's) at the time and I still can't see the touch on the Fulham player after watching it again. The reaction from the Fulham players after the two handed shove says it all for me.

My argument was we had enough chances to take it out of his hands and should have been two goals clear prior to his mistakes. We've had some terrible refs over the years and have witnessed some awful decisions against us but we've also benefitted from the odd blunder from a ref.

Good bad or indifferent, the game can't go on without them though.

I agree with you there, but the EFL should be able to be a little more careful regarding who is appointed where. 2 refs we should never have (imo) are Eltringham and Harrington.

I am sure most if not all clubs will have some refs that shouldn't really cover their games though. Hopefully the Coote situation may make all refs think twice for all sorts of other reasons including where any personal biases, unconcious or otherwise may exist.

Maybe at the start of every season each club could get a certain number of vetoes of refs? That could then be built into the ref scheduling?

yes we have, and yes we do need them....but some of them need to do a lot better

I agree, didn't we recently have an ex-Bristol City player ref our Bristol City game?

More thought should be put in and take away any doubts fans might have about a referee's loyalty. Surely a ref from roughly the middle of two opposing teams or of set distance away from either team.
