I think he's got real potential to be a top class manager. Watching him on sky when they talked about tactics in depth, he's exactly the kind of manager England need after Southgate.
Agree with this, given the calibre of players England have at the moment, maybe I’m a few more years if he’s managed to win something or managed a top 10 PL team fora few seasons.I’m not disagreeing but I do fantasise about a day when England could appoint a manager whose actually won some stuff, rather than just kept a medium sized PL club out of the relegation zone, for a season or two, as if it’s some kind of seismic achievement.
Someone like Fabio Capello or Sven Goran Erikson or Steve McClaren or Howard Wilkinson?I’m not disagreeing but I do fantasise about a day when England could appoint a manager whose actually won some stuff, rather than just kept a medium sized PL club out of the relegation zone, for a season or two, as if it’s some kind of seismic achievement.
He fuc.king rinsed us. Bang average player who we should never have gone for. Compare him to Boateng etc and he was dog sh.it with an attitude to match.I just see him and the word pops in my head is - pr1ck.
Given I really didn't rate him in his time here, he comes across really well and has now shown the value he adds as manager to two teams.
Well I’d prefer it to be someone English, whose won something in England perhaps, so that rules out 2 of those 4. But yeah, maybe someone like Wilkinson whose won the English top flight (of course, not the PL, that’s how long ago it was).Someone like Fabio Capello or Sven Goran Erikson or Steve McClaren or Howard Wilkinson?
Unfortunately that reduces the pool to a tiny pool, Harry Redknapp, Terry Venables , Bobby Gould.( a few other of a similar ilk).Well I’d prefer it to be someone English, whose won something in England perhaps, so that rules out 2 of those 4. I know, it’s a fantasy rather than an expectation. You do wonder if/when the big English clubs will start employing English managers again. I know Chelsea have had a bit of a go, but no one else.Unfortunately that reduces the pool to a tiny pool, Harry Redknapp, Terry Venables , Bobby Gould.( a few other of a similar ilk).
I get why Boro fans especially don’t like him but it’s a little odd to write him off based on events 12/13 years ago as a player when all the evidence suggests he’s knuckled down and really applied himself to get the most out of his coaching career.
