Gary Monk's Hit & Misses

We got £12m for Ramirez? 😲

Was that ever reported anywhere? I somehow find that very hard to believe.

why was he dropped again? Artificially inflating transfer fees that his agent had an interest in and interviewing for the Leeds job was it?

I was really excited when I saw Monk was lined up to be our manager
I was thinking the football we were going to play would be Swansea like
Pity it didn’t work out
I wasn't, thought he was a billy boolshitter.

But then I've become very neutral about most signings players or managers these days. Seen too many big names fail, and too many cheap signings or unknowns like Karanka do well. I give up predicting, and instead observe

He's trying to paint Britt as some kind of success despite only scoring in 2 matches out of 48 against top 6 teams and costing a grand total of 23m before leaving for free. He was an unmitigated disaster of a signing that still impacts our FFP for this season (to the tune of about 11.5m) and next season (to about 6m)

I thought Howson was 5m not 6? Him and Randolph were good signings.

I remember that being the fee and we sold de roon for pennys.
De Roon went for about the same I'm sure.

If we got £12m for Ramirez that's incredible. 2 goals all season, attitude problems and had previously flopped with Southampton. We had their eyes out.

But surely the club would have disclosed that one? Unless the buying side didn't want to.

Assombolonga, Fletcher, Braithwaite, Johnson and Shotton were disaster signings that we lost a lot of money on (£33m plus wages and agents fees)
Christie and Randolph just about washed their faces.
Howson at £5m was pricey but the only one to have been worthwhile.

Keeping Gestede when we could have got money back from Leeds was a shocker. But that gem was pulis, together with selling Bamford and buying the useless Flint and Saville.

You really do have to pause a while to take those two summers in.
