He wants sacking for that.I see the BBC are going to speak to Gary Lineker after he dared to critically tweet about the government's new asylum policy.
I wonder how the head of the BBC got his job and if he's ever done any of them a favour.
BBC 'speaking frankly' with Gary Lineker over tweet comparing UK asylum policy to 1930s Germany
Tory MPs have criticised the Match of the Day host after he spoke out about the Illegal Migrants Bill.www.bbc.co.uk
Ha I dunno. I know he has a big contract. But he's not on the payroll is he...or so his tax return would suggest
He wants sacking for that.
The BBC gave him that salary, he didn't write his own cheque. I'd quite happily see him chairing Question Time rather than the stooge in there now.I bet plenty on this board would be happy to see him fronting Question Time instead of MOTD, even on his huge salary!
Don't be daft.He wants sacking for that.
OK but he isn't exactly impartial either. The BBC gave him that salary, he didn't write his own cheque. I'd quite happily see him chairing Question Time rather than the stooge in there now.
When you moan about the ridiculous fees and contracts paid out for mediocrity at the Boro, remember who signed the cheques.
Nobody is impartial.OK but he isn't exactly impartial either.
Personally I don't really moan about big fees and contracts at Boro, I accept its the way of the world whether I like it or not. Same goes for Lineker.
I agree. But Bruce gets a lot of flack for being like everybody else. I actually don't think she does as bad a job as is often made out, and I'm not of a Tory persuasion by any means.Nobody is impartial.
“confrontational”
She's terrible. Talks too much for starters before you even get on to her bias.I agree. But Bruce gets a lot of flack for being like everybody else. I actually don't think she does as bad a job as is often made out, and I'm not of a Tory persuasion by any means.
correct he has a contract of service not employment, he is effectively self employed. But even so, BBC employees can post whatever political stuff they choose, unless, they are involved in the making of news or politics programmes, which he isn'tLineker doesn't have a regular employee's contract with the BBC, so I'd be reluctant to assume he has necessarily signed up for any restrictions on his social media use.
whilst that's true, I would suggest they should try to refrain. If you want impartiality you have to think about how its perceived by both sides. The biggest threat to the BBC atm is how unified both the right and left are against them on the grounds of 'bias'.correct he has a contract of service not employment, he is effectively self employed. I like her voice. She's terrible. Talks too much for starters before you even get on to her bias.
Yeah, but the thing is the things you cite above that are sold to voters don’t *always* result in folk being sent to the gas chambers. I can’t stand this government or it’s immigration policy but I don’t think the casual use of the term “Nazi” online (as was used about Starmer on the other thread!) is helpful either.
He doesn't need to be impartial, he doesn't work in news or politics.whilst that's true, I would suggest they should try to refrain. Has Farage been on the BBC though? If he hadn’t been fronting MOTD for 25 years he’d have a profile as big as Chris Waddle’s now.

I don’t think Farage has been on QT for over 3 years btw.
TBF he DID fawn over Leicester when they won the premiership. Could have down with some impartiality there! He doesn't need to be impartial, he doesn't work in news or politics.
