Fury calls out Joshua

I’d be surprised if Joshua would want the fight this year when they can drag another 8 months at least . Modern day fighters don’t seem to fight much but i dare say fury will want another fight next year after beating Joshua .
It’s down hill now for Joshua now unfortunately for him , I’d hate to see wilder beat him detest that fella

So does the loser get the same fee as if he’d won ?
Generally the case. Purse splits are decided before the fight.

You would think they could come up with a standardised contract where purses are awarded 60/40 to the winner. The best fighters would still take the majority of the purse is most of their fights.

I said 60/40.

I should move into the boxing world 🤣
Bar really exceptional circumstances it is the most the governing body would allow. Let’s hope it’s doesn’t fall foul of the current November vs December debates.

Why is Fury so desperate to fill this December slot? I suspect he will financially lose out because hes got agreements to fight on that date? Make no mistake about it, he might be favourite, and Joshua has had a tough couple of years, but this is a hugely dangerous fight for Fury and a huge opportunity for AJ

I’m a casual fan of both but got into MMA last few years and always seems a shame that boxing has this attitude of ‘one loss and you’re done’, rather than MMA where you win some and lose some, anything can happen and a few losses doesn’t stop you being a massive draw and a top fighter.

Seems daft to me? What’s this obsession with unbeaten fighters?

Seems to lead to fighters padding their record and ducking the ones that could go 50-50 for years and years. In reality, it’s pretty easy to name the top 5 heavyweight boxers on the planet and it would be much better just to see them go at it against each other.

Boxing needs to chill with this idea that when you lose, there’s nowhere to go but retire. It would be a better sport for it. AJ is clearly still one of the best heavyweights on earth.

Staying active? Getting as many fights in (and money) before he really retires?

maybe, but he's never really been a highly active boxer in his career. I suspect he's made some contractual commitments, and also he sees Joshua as lacking confidence after the last coupe of years, so sees it as an easy opportunity, which it probably isn't

I've argued on here for the last 5 years that Fury was a level above Joshua and I was always in the minority who rated Fury higher.

I think Fury is a better boxer and mentally a lot stronger in the ring, however I think the gap between them might be closing as ridiculous as it sounds.

Joshua's career looks like it is on the decline but I think Fury is physically closer to the end of his career than Joshua. At some point I wonder whether Fury's lifestyle and the Wilder wars might catch up with him.

Can Fury still box and move for 12 rounds? If he can I'm sure he wins easily but I'm not sure he can or that he even wants to. Can Fury beat Joshua with a more aggressive style? Maybe but if he stands and trades with Joshua he's far more vulnerable.

For all of Joshua's limitations he's far more accurate and has better timing that Wilder and Whyte.

I'm a Fury fan and I'd still back him to win but part of me wonders whether Fury wants Joshua at his most vulnerable time. If Fury is not at his best or not 100% focused then Joshua could still cause him a lot of problems.

Fury is training every day and appears not to be binging on booze - you would think physically he'd be in the best shape of his career?

I'm not talking about fitness, its more about being potentially past his peak.

Every boxer that's ever lived reaches a point where they lose a fraction of a second with their reflexes and some of them lose the ability to take a shot on the chin.

Its going to happen to Fury at some point regardless of how fit he is or how good he might look on the scales.

Maybe Fury wants to fight and beat Joshua asap as he knows eventually he's gonna be past his peak.

Wilder wouldn’t beat him, AJ would likely annihilate him, he has no movement, stands still and just tries to throw a big right hand, look at the damage Fury did to Wilder, Fury has better skills but AJ hits harder, Wilder would get stunned with a jab then knocked out with an uppercut. Wilders best victory is against ortiz, was winning comfortably until wilder caught him. Ruiz just beat Ortiz and even Charles Martin was beating him before he got caught. Wilder still hasn’t beaten anyone at all of note and though he knocks most people out he’s never managed to knock out anyone whose genuinely top5 and only one top 10 boxer. People say AJ was/is hyped but he’s not a patch on wilder who dodged anyone dangerous for years.
