Just briefly on the Brexit thing.

Brexit is not the sole cause of the driver shortage but to insist it is nothing to do with Brexit is, at best, disingenuous. To simplify it, if you need ten drivers to deliver fuel to ten garages. One driver leaves because he doesn't like the new tax laws, then another leaves because the pay is poor, one more retires and then Vlad the Hungarian driver goes back home after Brexit. The six drivers work the odd extra shift and everything keeps ticking along. Then a driver gets pinged and one catches COVID...

Which problem has caused the driver shortage?

Well The Transport Secretary himself says Brexit is a factor so I agree. it is disingenuous.

So far today one guy has pulled a knife due to an altercation at the forecourt and cases of people putting the wrong fuel in their cars

Huge increase in panic buyers putting wrong fuel in their cars

The AA has seen an increase in breakdown calls

TBF, my issues over the Brexit threads is the constant name calling which I react to, I've not got a problem with fellow posters posting how they see it, but as soon as the abuse starts I will have my say

I agree wholeheartedly with that post. I, by and large, have my say with some posters, then just move on to other comments. With some you are wasting your time. I don't want brexit but I don't blame it for the driver shortage or the hike in fuel costs. I said my piece and move on. The constant circular arguments are pointless and often end with name calling.

PS I dont like the smiths either so major fail there, now a bit of ralph mctell might make me change my mind.

Of course they're thinking, if you're told something us going to be in short supply you stock up. It's a pretty normal thing to do.

If there is no shortage why was it announced that there was one by the media, it's where people get there info from, believe it or not

I first saw him in 1969 when Streets of London was fairly new. Stood out on the folk scene in those days.
