Mainly for TLJ. During the previous quarantine measures in France they were voluntary, and as far as I'm aware that is the case with the new quarantine. I've not been able to watch the news today so worth checking. This appeared in the Connexion during the first quarantine:
What does ‘quarantine’ in France mean?
When the first UK quarantine - and reciprocal quarantine in France - was imposed, a French government helpline worker told Connexion: “Voluntary quarantine does not mean that people cannot go out [in France] for 14 days. They should just avoid outings as much as possible, and respect social distancing and safety guidelines.”
Those under voluntary quarantine in France were able to go for a walk or food shopping, but not to meet up with other people and it was not recommended to isolate with friends or family unless they were also in the same household as you before arrival.
