When were they saying that? With 6 games left we were 6 points adrift, couldn't score and were generally playing like d1ckheads.
Ourselves and Sunderland had pretty much been written off by everyone at that point..

It’s all about perception as well. If players perceive us as pushing in the right direction
They’ll be more inclined to come.

Nothing, but it's still July, the transfer window doesn't close for a while, and they'll see how much we've improved and have to spend. It's only on here that panic has set in, as happens every year.

Also, look how far out they were last season. Huddersfield to be relegated. They know no more than any of us do.
