He scored a few goals in a system that was designed for him. He's openly and very publicly available for sale... and it's obvious no other teams want him either, because he's not good enough.

We have identified players...
We bid for Gyokores and they wanted £12m+.
We bid for Dwight Gayle and his wages were too high.
We've enquired about Semenyo, he's not for sale.
We offered McGoldrick a contract, he chose Derby because we couldn't guarantee him game time.
We offered Troy Parrott a contract, he chose Preston for more game time.
We offered Ellis Simms a contract too...
We've also got offers in for Muniz and Armstrong but they want to sign replacements.

How do you know who we have enquired about, bid for, the fees we offered and why they are not here?
For what it's worth I'm relieved we have at last signed a striker. If Forss has come as first choice I will be concerned, but IF it is for £2m and back up then I'm all for it.

I remain concerned about the 2 gaping holes that remain up front, the need for a LCB, a DCM (competition for Howson) and a replacement for Tavernier IF he is to leave.

We have signed well to date this window IMHO (Giles, Lenihan, Steffen and Roberts) and Forss and Smith will be good for the squad too I'm sure.
BUT we do still need first teamers.

Think you have made half of that up. Parrott won’t of been offered a contract here and if he was he would of picked us. There is a difference with enquiring about a player than actually preparing a deal

Tav issue seems to have gone quiet. Don't think Bournemouth can afford him, they have lost 140m in the 4 seasons prior to last season, and likely lost another 40 mill then, They haven't spent a penny this summer.

Think we nee d a DCM yes, Hackney isn't ready, was pretty average at Scunthorpe last season. We only have Tav, Howson, Crooks, McGree, as senior pros and Boyd-Munce as an U23. That's 2 backup players covering 3 positions. We need one more. Wonder if the Choudrey rumours are true?

LCB, Greaves is rated at 7m apparently. It would be a lot to spend on a defender but his stats for surging forward at Hull are the best in the league for a left footed CB.

What would your feelings be if we sign Riis, Muniz, Choudrey and Greaves?

Great question.
As you are probably aware, I am unwilling to give up on Gyokeres.
However IF that can't happen for whatever reason, then buying Riis (especially) and borrowing Muniz would be strong. I'd equally borrow Armstrong for a year instead of Muniz.
I would be very pleased to get Greaves, I think he is just what we need.
In all honesty I have never been drawn to or impressed by Choudhury, so I wouldn't be keen on a big fee for him, but I could be very wrong about that.

So it's a 3 out of the 4 for me.

I am not Tavernier's greatest fan, but its getting to the stage where selling him now will leave a huge hole in the first team and little time to recruit on top of what we still need.
The only thing that would tempt me would be getting Gyokeres as a consequence.

If you read my comment I wasn't moaning... The original poster claimed that we're not looking hard enough for strikers... I was pointing out that we are.

Maybe I jumped the gun with "offered contracts", but we have definitely spoke to parent clubs about both players, and Troy Parrott has quoted that he chose Preston over other clubs to guarantee himself more game time.
 
We definitely need another CM option and that's without Tav possibly leaving. We don't have much in the way of cover for Howson (we also need to be looking at that longterm).

I guess Mcnair becomes and option now that we've signed Lenihan. Just frees up a bit of man power from that back 3.

I know it's all paper talk and possibly not true, but "Troy Parrott rejected the chance to sign for Sunderland, Middlesbrough and QPR this summer." would suggest we did have something on the table.
 
Preston ST holder at work was saying they are being linked with Callum Robinson on loan from WBA.....with the possibility of a £3m permanent deal. Which will make him their record signing.
So a £5m ish bid for Riis may well be enough to tempt them, as they are pretty skint. Certainly be better value than Gyokeres. 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

I heard that some of Riis stats are much better than Gyokeres
