Former Premier League players who wouldn't get a look in today

Alright lads, it wasn't that poor! (or maybe it was)

He was very good for Chelsea in 04/05, but I'm not sure he would quite cut the mustard now given the way wide players play. Suppose you could put most 00s wingers in that mould.

Instead of critiquing, maybe give your players instead!

I'll give another:

Jermaine Pennant

Robbie Savage surely.

I know he was always one of them players that you hated if he played against you and loved if he player for you, but these days you need a bit more about you other than just having a bit of shithou*ery going for you.

I think keepers would struggle most - Peter Shilton 😯 possibly England best ever but could he play out from the back? I doubt it..

Maybe a bit earlier than you meant but you could also add David Seaman

Carlton Palmer.

Edit. I will add that to be a professional someone has to be a seriously good player.

David Batty was technically rank
Given batty got plenty of caps for England I think it's safe to say he would still have been a PL player these days. He was just a bit backwards / sideways.

I'll go with Niall Quinn. I don't think there's a requirement for that sort of striker these days.

You've got to say the version of Gazza we had would really struggle playing in the PL now.

He actually played quite well for us but no chance could he get away with playing whilst being in this sort of shape now.
