For those that didn’t know Red Bull in major Grand Prix win shock

Haven’t watched for a while but is it any different to when Vettel or Hamilton were winning all the time?
Yes. Because there was competition and there wasn't the feel that the officiating was loaded towards any particular team. OK ferrari maybe but they weren't winning in those times

We should all watch WEC by the way. That's proper racing. Multi class fields in long distance tests of cars and drivers. Although, for some unknown reason they are stopping doing the best, pure racers, class next year.

Was great to see the Iron Dames win their class at the weekend. First all female crew to win

Seems to be more popular than at any point in its history
It's more tribal these days than it used to be.

I know a lot of F1 fans who have been put off by this domination, plus the 2021 debacle. But on the other hand Drive to Survive has brought in different and new fans. Globally I understand that the viewing figures are about level. It's hard to imagine that they have not gone down in this country when compared with 2021.

Apparently Drive to Survive led to a massive boom in interest during lockdown, and it gained interest in America through that.

Viewing figures have dropped off globally since the high of 2021 because of the controversy and the fact it's now a foregone conclusion.

Yes. Record number of race wins far exceeding what either of those did in a single season. When the two you mentioned had a bad qualifying others would win, but now Verstappen just presses the DRS button on his steering wheel and breezes past. Add in the fact that his teammate is unable to even remotely challenge, and you are left with one of the most boring era's of F1, unless of course a race for 2nd / 3rd place excites you (which it does for me only sometimes)
Thanks.

What’s the craic with his teammate is he just crap?

Thanks.

He's just not as good. The margins in F1 are incredibly tight with half a second in a 90 second lap being seen as a large difference.

Max is clearly a special talent and Perez is just less special.

I too have followed F1 since the seventies and unlike most have become a fan of a team and not the drivers. It is after all a team sport. Drivers come and drivers go but it's always the team that counts. As a Williams Fan we have seen some ups and some downs and hopefully at the moment we are starting to see some improvement again. As for what goes on at the front of the races I can be a little more realistic and yes there is some very good battles to be had if not exactly at the front of the race but this season is about who comes second in both drivers and constructors championships.

Is he though? Or is he just in a special car.
Max V is an especially quick driver. He also happens to drive the completely dominant car. So, it's both.

Unfortunately at the moment he can drive at 80% and still win. No one regularly puts pressure on him. The 2021 season when him and Hamilton were closely matched, he showed his fragility of personality. Whether he has since grown up, we don't really know because it's all far too easy at the moment.
