Football Manager 2024

Officially released yesterday, has anyone been playing it since the beta came out?

I started a save with Boro and decided to go with the real world mode where signings happen on the dates they did in real life (I also turned off the first transfer window).

Gone for a formation very similar to one that Carrick plays and after 3 games in the league I'm 5th on 7 points, and beat Leicester in the first round of the cup.

First impressions of the Boro squad is that Jones is really good, Rogers decent and van den Berg doing very well at RB as I wait for Tommy Smith to return from injury.

I decided to play McNair as an inverted left back instead of Coulson whilst I wait for Bangura and Engel to sign.

I haven't got it yet, but it is definitely on my list of soon to buy.
On my last save on FM23 I started off with Fulham(mainly because I wanted to try a formation I had created using a target man)and did ok, kept them up in the first season, then got them in Europe in the second season, in the third season I was struggling and when the Boro job came available in the Championship I applied and got the job(it was such a proud moment to finally get offered my dream job 😂).

What happens with the "real time signings" in terms of budget for transfers? Does this come out of your overall budget or are they essentially already accounted for?

Do you have the option to block the transfers?

They are already accounted for and no you can't block them... I'm not sure I see the point in it to be honest other than having to get through the first few games of the season without some of the new signings.

It's funny though, I've just signed Greenwood who has played every game for Leeds and scored twice and one assist for them, as well as August young player of the month.

it's no different to FIFA these days, essentially the same game with a data update, save the money and just update 2022 or 2023 with new season database

I can't be arsed to play the new versions as you need to click 5000 times to get from one game to the next as you read about a managerial change in the botswanian 3rd division and scroll through half a million results you have absolutely no interest in whatsoever

CM01/02 was the best, you could do a season in 2-3 hours , who wants to play a game that actually takes longger to get through a season than real life uless you use a minature database
with about 8 leagues in it

The game needs a 'go the next game' button , i want to do a dozen games in an hour of use, not 2 games and half a million clicks

The training needs to be simplified and more user friendly, and all the other irrelavent nonsense filtered out, and the player potential is stupidly fixed as if thats
in anyway enjoyable, you know already how good an 18 year will ever get and thats just nonsense, the potential of players needs to be training based not
just set as soon as you start the game, whats the purpose of that, needs to change massively for me to get interested in the franchise again instead of the cash grab it
is now the ame game with data updates and a different skin layout

You can go on holiday until next match to skip all the in between?

FM23 was really good and the first time I’ve bought it since FM15. I haven’t played for a while but at one point my Boro team was quality.

I don’t like to get too many years into a save so all players are regeneration. I tend to play a maximum of 7 seasons before starting a new save. I’ll drop down the English leagues or go abroad. Never manage a top flight English club.

CM 01/02 is the GOAT, like. I devoted so much of my childhood and teenage life to that game. I tried playing it again recently but on a modern laptop and I couldn’t deal with how sensitive the mouse was when trying to offer contracts/transfer fees etc.

Mark Kerr, Cherno Samba, Eldar Hadzimedovic - the golden trio for every one of my teams.

Football Manager - How the Premier League Babies learned about football, formations and the foreign transfer market.

Ayersome Angel Babies had to trawl through shoot magazines, The Pink and read the sports sections in morning papers and hope the reporter hadn't left at half time. ;)

Carried over my ultimate challenge save from fm23. Currently walking the French league with PSG and looking out for an international job.

Will do a Boro save next I think, although Wrexham is tempting.
