Make no mistake, the reason season tickets have increased is because of last seasons success, the likelihood of our promotion at the time and the Michael Carrick effect. It's foolish to think there's any other reason.
Exactly this. The lure of the Premier League was and is strong for a lot of people and the truth is that we will always get more ST buys if it looks like we have a chance of going up.

If we look like a mid-lower table all this season, you aren't getting such a healthy renewal.

I don't know whether this is something the club take notice of but it's really easy to not go back once you have spent some time away from going. I used to go home and away, 30+ games in the PL and Championship seasons and I've just gotten out of the habit now. It is mainly because I live down south now but I didn't even try to get a ticket for the match at Watford and I literally have no plans to attend a home match. Last season I might have been tempted and I did do a few away matches, but when the football isn't great AND you have this sort of nonsense going on behind the scenes, it just does nothing for me.

The panic around not being able to get to Wembley because they didn't have enough priority points was the reason two lads I know bought season tickets this season. Seems a long time ago that

Fair enough, but in the previous few barren seasons, ST's numbers were maintained by the clubs pricing policy....

Strange that. I'm sure anyone who really wanted could have gone if we'd got there.

This is one of the reasons I keep my season ticket ie the knowledge that if I gave it up I'd probably end up not going at all, much as I enjoy going. I know one person who gave up his season ticket not long before the covid break and he goes to, perhaps, one or two games a season now.

I gave up my season ticket when I moved overseas 12 years ago. When I returned after 4 years away I never got one again. I have been pay on the day ever since. Can go to anywhere between 5 and 15 home games a season depending on how busy family life is, how well we are playing, financial constraints, This season was the first time I had seriously considered getting a ST since due to the football we had played last season but the pricing put me off in the end. I couldn't get GRFZ tickets and didn't fancy paying a grand for an adult and 2 kids season tickets. I have to admit though priority on big match tickets was in my mind when I was thinking about getting STs.

Been to 3 home games and 1 away game this season and will probably rack up about 15 home games by the end of the season but I do like not being tied to having to go the matches. I struggle to get to midweek games. It's quite refreshing being able to choose on a weekly basis.

I live in Oxfordshire, but was tempted by a season card this year after last year's great football and also the difficulty getting away tickets. However, there's no way I can do midweek home games without using up my annual leave and I would also want to go with my son, who is 21 and lives in Manchester. The cost is particularly prohibitive to younger people, our season ticket holders of the future. My main issue with our pricing is really how expensive junior tickets are outside of GRFZ and early bird season tickets. It really is shortsighted, but I'm sure it has been raised before and the club isn't interested.

I think the Wilder effect maintained season ticket levels before Carrick came in. Before that it was covid seasons and the return from covid, so I'm not sure that rings true for me.

The season ticket pricing policy works whilst there's optimism around the club. As soon as that goes it all colapses.

I'm similar - we're over in a few weeks and normally 4 or 5 of us would have gone to a match - absolutely no interest or motivation in going when the club make it as difficult / expensive as possible.

Fully expecting all the negative comments thrown at me now, but I really couldn't care - I've been going since 1966, most of that time until we moved abroad as a season ticket holder, so I've paid my dues

I don't know whether this is the place to bring it up but I would be interested to know what plans the club have to deal with the change in TV coverage next season.

Around 40% of weekend games and 100% of midweek league matches are going to be shown live on Sky.

That is right and the only upside is they will declare next summer when all the fixtures will be played up until end of January or around then.

I agree with you that the increase in sales of season tickets is due to the lure of the Premier League but to get to the PL we have to be playing good football. Not everyone is willing to pay out to watch a mediocre side and if results are going in the right direction, then the attendance drops off.

I gave up my season ticket during Covid and made the decision when football started up without fans. I didn't ask or want a rebate on my ticket for that season but I did know it would be my last. I've been to one home game since then and have turned down numerous free tickets. I've been watching the Boro since 1965.
