1-1 v Aston Villa (Big John Hickton) in 1967I've done this before. Bristol City at home in the 86-87 season. Mowbray scored the only goal for my debut win.
I remember that one. Last home game of the season? Willie Maddren's debut...as a striker and he scored I think. And someone called Alf Arrowsmith (there's a name from a football story in a 1960s comic!) scored the winner with a header at the Holgate End. Mind you, he had played for Liverpool once. Our promotion push to join Brian Clough's Derby in the First Division had fizzled out and there was crowd of about 10 000 when we'd been getting 20 000 plus all season. Weird atmosphere and I was gutted. And honest, that's all from memory without looking anything up, proof that as you get older, you can even remember what the weather was like at a match 55 years ago and that Alf Arrowsmith scored for them but couldn't name Bristol City's scorers from last Saturday. Can't even remember what the weather was like but I know we lost!1969 v Bury at home, lost 2-3
