Feel very low after reading Yusuf post on Social media

Yusuf, is there no way you can block replies to your tweets or social media posts?

It would be such a shame to let the idiots win.

I'm so sorry you have to endure stuff like this from our so called fans.
Its easier said than done. Thats not the solution is it. The solution as I have said on the other thread (pity we have two now) is to attack the problem and close down public messageboards that continue to trumpet race hate.

It’s not the answer I’m afraid. It’s 2021 if a bloke wants to engage with people on social media he should be able to without a barrage of abuse.

I suggest it might be more appropriate for the Club to take this up with Cleveland Police.
When a top fan, invited by the Club, to interview players [on behalf of all other fans]......is subject to such vitriolic personal racist abuse that the person feels they need to withdraw from the clubs request....its too serious for just us individual fans to take up. [Though we can still make complaints if we wish].

I actually have a meeting on Wednesday about starting an anti racism initiative - quite a simple thing running across social media - it is something that I have been hoping to start for a few weeks - the power of social media can work both ways, sadly and gladly. But today it is definitely very much sadly.

I'm not saying its the answer, I'm just trying to make short term suggestions so that he doesn't miss out on a great opportunity.

Unfortunately the problem also lies with the social media companies but they seem to do very little to police things like this.

The sad thing is that when someone is a social media personality there's very little that can be done at the moment to stop the trolls abusing people. I know the police can arrest people but can they arrest every individual?

The laws on setting up social media accounts should be a lot stricter and people shouldn't be able to hurl abuse behind hidden accounts.

If there’s one good thing to come out of this decision, it’s that the club and it’s fans are being forced to acknowledge and confront the problem head on instead of Yusuf dealing with it privately. Let’s hope the police are involved. They certainly should be.

I am not sure how much times I have written this on this forum the last few days, but I am so grateful and thankful for all of your warm and supportive comments. Its very overwhelming and I really do appreciate it. Thanks a million. UTB
Glad you posted Yusuf. It's good to know that you are aware of how the great majority of people feel. We're furious about this. It's horrible.
