FCSB v Man U

Has FCSB moved into a new stadium? The one we went to looked derelict in parts.

I must admit, they were one of the noisiest home crowds I have ever been in.

Mainoo should score there.

Did you go to Steaua away ?

Doffs cap if you did…. Lucky you came back with both your kidneys
I did and loved it. We had been to Roma previously and it was a nightmare due to all the chew. When we went to Steau we decided to fly in and out on the same day. It was the biggest mistake I have ever made going to watch football and wished we had stayed a few days. It was one of the best Euro away games I went to.

That new stadium looks excellent compared to the dilapidated stadium we went to.

Tha fans haven't stopped cheering them on even at 2-0 down.

Was a bonkers few hours that in Bucharest..
Crowd noise was weird as they played Scooter or some other Rave at 1000 decibels

Why do footballers make fools of themselves like Fernandes did there? The lad hardly touched him with his hand and he's gone down like he's been punched by a heavyweight boxer.

Surely they know it's going to be shown on TV and they are going to look like fools.

Remember having a few sherbets outside a bar, and kicking a football around.......
needless to say, an upstairs window was smashed.......a whip round was arranged and the cash for repairs were given to the old lady.......money raised was like a lottery win to those poor souls 👍

Great day, hard game, at least the result kept us in the tie........could've been worse.

Led to one of the Riversides greatest ever nights

I was outside that pub and was standing near the Bobby who was in charge. When the ball hit the window and smashed his hat was orbiting his head while he thought what to do. We had been in Italy the game previous and because of the Italian police attitude towards the Boro fans I told my mate to come out of the way and feared the worst. The Bobby slowly walked over and by the time he arrived the woman who owned the pub had come out. The lads gave her the money, the Bobby shook hands with everyone and we all carried on drinking.

Totally different to Rome.

This is a picture of the Romanian kids who were playing football against the kids. I had taken my jumper off and hung it over a barrier and the lad 2nd from the left pinched it. My mate said "he's pinching your jumper." I know I replied, but I feel he needs it more than I do.

I haven't looked at these pictures in years.

It's actually the National Stadium and Steaua first started playing European games there when their Ghencea stadium was designated to be below Euro standards. I think they have eventually migrated to the National Stadium full time whilst their own ground gets replaced (like Tottenham and Wembley) but the suspicion is they will never move out much to the annoyance of Dinamo and Rapid.
Dinamo and Rapid's stadiums are in major disrepair but having been to both I can imagine they were both superb when first built. Saw Dinamo play Everton and attended many Rapid league games when I lived there.

Great photo ... RIP Kevin. Did you travel with Peter ?? I'm sure I was in a nightclub with him after the game !!

It's a rebuild on the same site. The stadium we played at was demolished at the end of 2007.

I was at that game too!
it certainly was.

Lia Manoliu National Stadium in Bucharest was where we played them. We had a great couple of days in Bucharest. Brand new bars housed in the old town - dereliction everywhere. Wild dogs everywhere I recall. Visit to Ceausesku’s palace was a massive eye opener. Filthy opulence as the Romanian people suffered.

As for the game itself remembered how tense it was. Steau scored with pretty much their first effort on goal midway through the first half. Good goal turn and shot from the edge of the box. We battled well. Quedurue had his head bandages for most of the game Terry Butcher style. Boateng was immense.
