Fatal mass shouting in Texas…

There's people in the US who think the death of some children is acceptable collateral in their right to own a gun.

Reading through these comments is like humanity is right at the bottom of these people priorities in life, its sickening.
There are also people who do care, like this guy.

It's made me feel pretty ill this morning thinking about those poor little children's last few moments....
Stop the world I want to get off please...
If USA parents can't use this to launch an anti gun law then the country is fooked
I would be considering home schooling if I was a US parent I think
It's just not worth the risk right now

What I struggle to wrap my head around is what clicks in someone's head when they decide they'll grab a gun and go and shoot a load of innocent primary school age kids?

Take the ease of access to a gun out of the equation for a second. People can't blame violent video games, I've played many violent video games over the years and I've never even dreamt of shooting or stabbing innocent people.
Rap music glorifies gun violence? Again, I've listened to hip hop and rap since I was a kid and it's never persuaded me shoot up a school. There is a deeper problem in America than just access to weapons.
But that's just your response. Not everyone is the same.

And the answer is....drum roll...more guns

this has repeatedly been proven to be utter horse shiat.

I am sure I read that the armed guard (or policeman) at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas school shooting in which 17 students died, legged it and refused to re-enter the building. He later resigned before being suspended and faced no criminal charges.

Can you imagine being a black Teacher roaming the halls armed in an active shoot situation and a full on SWAT team arrive and start shooting the first person they see with a gun? (similar has also happen on several occasions by the way)

The whole "only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun" is so fooked up, but its trotted out repeatedly , not only by lunatic politicians, but by seemingly normal, educated family people. Its completely baffling.

We have a shark problem, what we need is more sharks and bigger "Good Guy" sharks.

Only in America.

I wonder how many US citizens have actually defended themselves successfully using a gun against an armed robber, burgler or carjacker.
Does this ever get reported over there?

I can't find the tweet in which I read it, but apparently the FBI stated just 2 off all incidents this year(?) were potentially stopped by a shooter being shot before they could act out a mass shooting.

They think that giving ‘good’ people guns will help to stop the ‘bad’ people…

The problem is those few moments when a ‘good’ person turns ‘bad’… it takes a while to comprehend what’s happening..

There are a couple of points that I cannot understand why they have never been addressed.

Firstly, the "Second Amendment" says "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State..."

So surely those holding guns must be part of that "Militia" so either an ex-Serviceman/woman or someone who is a member of the Police Force or other official security organisation (National Guard, FBI, etc.) not just some 18yr old kid who just "likes guns"? Also the term "well regulated" seems to infer that the ownership of firearms should be... regulated or controlled, that's what is says?

Secondly, how can anyone argue that an assault weapon, semi or full automatic rifle is suitable for either home defence or hunting? I accept that in certain rural locations a rifle may be required to hunt (ignoring the concerns over hunting wild animals for the moment) something like an AR15 or an AK47 is hardly suitable. And if you wish to have one because some nutter down the road has one, well I'm sorry but if you have one it is not something that you can carry with you even if you have a permit to carry, so when Mr. Nutter decides he is going to kill you he turns up with his AR15 and yours is in the gunrack/safe. You're going to die before you get to your gun.

It is all just so depressing. Thoughts and prayers.

Poor innocent little ones, sacrificed for another lie.

Made that exact same point on Twitter a few years back after some mass shooting or other. Got told by a few US posters I clearly didn't understand the whole of the 2nd Amendment - which they never expanded upon, surprisingly enough - and then received a few insults. Never felt the need to research where I was going wrong. **** em.

The one in Buffalo the other week, I recall reading that a security guard fired at the shooter, but as he was wearing Kevlar it didn't stop him. The shooter then shot and killed the guard.

But yeah, keep on with the old "good guys with guns stop bad guys with guns" schtick. It's working great...
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- New questions are being raised about whether the gunman in the Florida school shooting could have been stopped. Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel said Thursday that armed security officer Scot Peterson had a chance to stop the shooting and did not. Video at the scene showed he never went inside.

Seventeen people were killed. Fourteen others were injured.

The deputy has now resigned.

Documents released by the sheriff's office show that the school resource officer had information about the suspect and his "potential to carry out a school shooting two years before it happened." But it's his actions the day of the shooting that led to his suspension. The scene outside Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School as a student opened fire.CBS NEWS
"What I saw was a deputy arrive at the west side of Building 12, take up a position and he never went in," Israel said.

Surveillance video showed Peterson arriving at the building where the shooting happened about a minute after the first shots rang out, but he never entered during the more than four minutes the shooting continued.

"When we in law enforcement arrive at an active shooter, we go in and address the target and that's what should have been done," Israel said.

Peterson was suspended without pay, but chose to take an early retirement.

"There are no words. I mean, these families lost their children. We lost coaches," Israel said. "I've been to the funerals, I've been to sit Shiva. There are no words."

Two other deputies are on restricted duty during an internal review of whether they did enough after receiving warnings about shooting suspect Nikolas Cruz.

What is the only purpose of a hand gun or assault rifle - surely to kill
What happens during an abortion - a killing takes place

How can the same people think one is against all the teachings of the bible and is inhumane but think guns should be posed with on social media.

I cannot understand their thought processes.

Arming kids has definitely been mentioned before infact the NRA has a huge youth movement.

I was looking through my old photos today and I came across one I took at a yankees game at Yankee stadium and on the side line is a black ribbon with VT in the middle.

As this game was just after the Virginia tech mass shooting that really did shock the nation and I thought what has really changed since that day.

Nothing.

That coach video is powerful. The stat he mentions about 90% of Americans supporting background checks makes you wonder. What has to give to get these idiots to allow a vote on it? Why is it always the nutjobs that hold democracy hostage? Sickening.

I’ve just seen it was confirmed that it was Once again an AR-15 that was used.

The scary thing is that every time this happens the sales of this weapon go through the roof as people fear it couldn’t banned.

No doubt it will today

This sums it up

One is a weapon used by the us military for decades from M16 to the modern M4

The other is a civilian weapon widely available to buy in the US the AR-15
