FAO Red Faction

The core RF who have been there from the start seem to be good, well-meaning lads.

It’s the tagalongs that give them a bad name.
I recall many Boro fans dismissing them even then, when crowds were low and fans despondent.
I remember watching Boro play Hartlepool in a pre-season match. There were missiles thrown onto the pitch from some Boro fans. At the station, waiting for the train back to Middlesbrough, I heard a woman becoming emotional and telling all and sundry that it was the fault of Red Faction. The woman? Julie Philips, who I believe is banned for life from the Riverside (I haven't heard if this appealed and she was given a weaker sanction) after various racist incidents, the straw that broke the camels back being ripping up the Koran in Birmingham.

I recall some on here using the Jimmy Savile defence for her ie. She helped disabled supporters, so that trumped her racism.

Phillips isnt worth the oxygen of publicity.

The poster who raised the issue of the alleged inappropriate behaviour at Middlesbrough station yesterday is a respected poster. I hope whoever they were take a look at themselves. But we mustnt jump to conclusions.(y)

Sad to see the apparent decline of red faction.. brought the atmosphere and and really made the riverside what it is despite huge opposition.

I hope whatever has went down can be resolved and we can see RF back in the fold at the supporter meetings. an important voice that needs to be heard.

They will and decide they are cool as f*** and well hard.
Total imbeciles.
Are we talking about the fat balding over-50s idiots I witnessed yesterday - lifting their flabby and arthritic fists to each others faces under the bridge on the way out. Shouting and acting their shoe-sizes not their ages?

"Red Faction 08" can speak for themselves, but they dont portray the image of being "hard" or any such thing.
They are almost always a great bunch of lads, who do a lot for others and are integral to regenerating and re-energising the atmosphere at the club. They also raise a lot of money for local charities - without shouting from the rooftops. They spend a huge amount of time getting donations to buy and make the banners and the flag displays. All I think most people want to establish were if those at the station had anything to do with rf08 and if they did - they need to think long and hard.

I saw two fat blokes in their fifties doing a bit of disco hand slapping.. I think folks were embarrassed for them more than anything else. Didn't looks as it anyone got hurt anyway.

I walked back to the station with a couple of Birmingham supporters yesterday. They had been enjoying the game - until the last few minutes. Got just past the college when we were subjected to loads of abuse from young kids. A few things thrown as well. What makes people do this? its just stupid.

PS They dont have much hope with Rooney, but hoping they will attract some better signings in the future.

Rude. I always act my shoe size. I am in a slightly tight 62 these days.

Aye cos their opinion counted for zero. They’ve consistently challenged the club on things like ticket price hikes but the club do what they want regardless.
I do think this is a problem. The Comms about digital tickets, the membership scheme and how it works, all absolutely zero involvement publicly with fans. @fmttmadmin you know better than us, how bothered are the club about what matters to us fans? Where are we in their consideration?

Things like how we get treated at away games - the shambles at Coventry including breaking the law on prices advertised Vs charged. Do they do anything in response? Do you raise things like that which we bring up on here?

Football violence is pathetic but why call RF out because someone had one of their Hoodies on. If they had been wearing Lonsdale tops would you be calling out Direct Sports?.
RF do a great job and can't be expected to have control over someone because they wear their tops. Give it a rest.

Its the fact the hoodies looked like the ones RF wear with the lion emblem in yellow.
I certainly didnt post with any malicious intent or otherwise.
Its important to get the record straight and protect their reputation and credibility.
I back them 110% so when another respected poster raised the issue, we are right to comment.
It maybe that the "incident! wasnt what it seems, so the word "alleged" is used deliberately.
No accusations made.
There are plenty with an axe to grind, but dont get worried this is a witchhunt.
It appears the matter is in hand.
Thats all.

That’s a stupid toys out the pram stance to take. I’m sure the club would like to have cheaper tickets but they have to pay the bills, they can’t just say errrm ok to every demand from groups that have no experience of how to run a multimillion pound business

Unfortunately, I’ve witnessed a couple of similar incidents over the years with the same group of younger looking lads. Their ages just range from about 14-18 (although probably a bit older now).

The ones I know of are in the South Stand as I used to see them all the time when I used to bounce between South/North stand for games. I don’t think they’re part of the official RF - certainly weren’t at the time.

Two occasions I’ve spotted them attacking opposition fans. One game was before a Millwall game after the rail crossing. A couple of younger lads ran from behind the Millwall fans and smacked a couple of lads in the face and quickly put 15-20 yards between them and the Millwall fans. Surprisingly they didn’t react and just continued walking on whilst getting loads of taunts and abuse from about 15 lads who looked like they were barely out of school.

The other occasion was a home game v Preston season before last after the match. There were a couple of Preston fans walking towards the first underpass. Again, exactly the same kind of attack. Ran from behind, bust this lads nose. They then circled him and his brother, trying to get a reaction.

At this point me and a few other Boro fans intervened and told them to **** off. We ended up walking the 2 lads back to the Car Park near the cinema. We got talking and they were spot on, really nice lads.

The attacks have been completely unwarranted very cowardly. Cheap shots from behind, strength in numbers etc. boils my ****.

Absolute scum bags. Hopefully the perpetrators from the weekend get caught / banned for life.

I can see their point on this and feel the club is only paying lip service to a lot of the things suggested at these forums unless it benefits them. You only have to read the forum notes to see that.

Ask any fan of any club if they want cheaper tickets and the answer will be yes, that doesn't make it viable though. If they want to press for cheaper tickets then they can only do that through the fans forum. If that is their only point of order then so be it, if their are other things they want to talk about to enhance the experience then they've just walked away from the opportunity to do that which seems churlish.
