Neil is simply a lovely man. He isn’t a magician or a rocket scientist.
However, he is focused, inspirational, positive and loved by (most of) his players and employers alike. He is as honest as the day is long with his players and wonderful company to be in away from the pitch. He doesn’t suffer fools gladly but if there is something to unearth within a player, he will take time to do so and is the best man manager I have ever witnessed, If you are reading this Neil, your half time team talk on the pitch when manager at Scarborough was a delight and never forgotten.
He has good trusted people around him to help with the daily grind, but he comes alive on matchdays. He oozes confidence, humour, banter and his players cross that line taller, stronger with self belief. He is more than happy to spend time with sensible fans and even have a bit of sport with the daft ones. Away from football, he is a gentleman. Many will recall I have wanted him here for years. I think he has vindicated my comments over the years and inside a few month has turned what was in danger of becoming a basket case of our own leaders making into a competitive football team and brought the club, its players and fans together for the first time since 2015/16 season. Boro are on the way back. Neil is the architect and I for one am grateful to have him fighting our cause.
