Yeah.. you said I was coming off as a Karen. Because I didn't think that it was Elitist to stay until the end. You got a bit of boo his on twitter for leaving early and somehow the folks that stayed were in the wrong.you were explained pretty directly on this subject over on twitter, newy. i sincerely hope nobody decides to go to the loo on your row. the uproar!
I don't leave early for traffic or anything like that. I live in Boro, park near the ground and accept the time it takes to get home.Coventry was the first match in about 10 years where I’ve left early.
Left when the 3rd went in
At least I didn’t have to listen to the booing at the full time whistle!
Went to my first game in September 1964. It either preceded that or I was at a revolutionary moment amongst the fans. When did this become so widely accepted? It is annoying at the best of times.. folks standing up and shuffling along the row to get out.. in the last 10/15 minutes of the game. It's not like when folks need the toilet and they wait for a break in play either.. they just get up and leave regardless with no consideration for fans watching the game. It's never just one either. I dare say the last 10/15 minutes are the most important.. last ditch efforts.. insane desperate pieces of skill that can easily be missed with a shuffler waddling by. AND if we cross the ball into the box or we turn into a quick counter attack.. these folks will have no hesitation in stopping dead in their tracks to catch action.. whether they are stood right in front of someone or blocking folks views from the stairs. All this is accepted and it's best to get folks out of the way to allow fans who want to watch the game to do exactly that.
When it comes to us losing and folks leave even earlier.. I do think it's rude.. it stinks a bit of entitlement. Yes people pay their money and can do what they want.. but folks who want to watch the full game uninterrupted have paid their money too and deserve a bit of consideration.
What is even worse for me tho is the absolute claptrap they come out with aimed towards fans that stay the distance.
If these folks leave that is up to them.. but they can't really complain if they get a bit of stick on the way out or they get a bit of the old boo hiss online.
For me you can't stamp your feet and wrap it in.. and then have a pop at the fans who have stayed by labelling them 'superfans' or 'elitist' or even label them as 'the stay until the end brigade' - none of these things are a thing when it comes to describing fans who buy a ticket and watch the whole game.
It doesn't happen really happen else where does it? Folks don't go to the cinema and then wait right until the end to walk out.. unless something exiting happens.. then they just stand there.. before they go home to slag off the the folks who watched the film until the end.
These are the same folks that will have the bare faced cheek to comment on the game afterwards.. urgghh we were dreadful. all game. we just gave up.. there's no fight in the team... etc etc etc.
When did this become normalised? Why is it even a thing?
Yeah.. you do what you want to do. But don't have a pop at fans for staying to watch the game ffsWent to my first game in September 1964. It either preceded that or I was at a revolutionary moment amongst the fans.
You do what you want to do, simple as that. And the same applies to the cinema, if you think it's crap you walk out.
If you're not happy make sure your season ticket is for the centre of a row.
True, providing you don’t park in the clubs various car parks. If you tried that, you’d be an hour or so later getting home.Always stay till final whistle out of habit.
Can still get onto the A66 within minutes.
Can't be many major grounds that are so easy to get away from by car.
I've not heard anybody do that, ever.Yeah.. you do what you want to do. But don't have a pop at fans for staying to watch the game ffs
Have never used the club car parks for that reason (and cost).True, providing you don’t park in the clubs various car parks. If you tried that, you’d be an hour or so later getting home.
I have no issue with people leaving early, you know they are not coming back, they may need to get to work somewhere for a shift, they may need to catch a train or get home for a family engagement. The ones that annoy me the most are the ones that get out of their seats after 30 mins or so to get to the bar and come back to their seats 5 minutes after the restart, then get up to go to the loo 20 mins later and return because they can’t hold their drink, even those with that loo pass. Perhaps everyone, me included, needs to realise that there are far worse things happening in the world to have a hissy fit about.
well.. that's what's been going down.I've not heard anybody do that, ever.
If you're giving them stick you'll get it back. And rightly so.well.. that's what's been going down.
I haven't given anyone stick lolIf you're giving them stick you'll get it back. And rightly so.
the strachan era for me was a bit like the baseball in america.. nobody really went for the football. you could have a nice chat with someone on the next block.. or in the next stand. the mowbray era was a bit different... it was like watching a contortionist escape artist and thinking.. how the hell is he gonane get out of this. mowbray played more attacking football which was much more entertaining.. sometime to the detriment of the defence.. which is surprising to me that it would be the case with a defender.I used to be a proud ‘never left early in my life’ supporter. But during the Strachan/Mowbray era I started to go early sometimes. Just felt absolutely pointless as you knew we weren’t going to win and I was bored out of my mind.
Luckily I didn’t have to get anyone to move to let me out as by that point me and my dad were the only people left on our row.
I always leave Barca games 5 minutes early now because I’d rather have a comfortable ride home than be crammed into a metro carriage like a sardine for the sake of 5 minutes of footy.
leaving with 15min still to go annoying.. becauseI've only left two games early - Brighton in the FA Cup couple of seasons back, needed to get back to Stockport sharpish as my daughter was going out.....when the 5th one went in on 85+ mins we thought were not coming back from this........
Fulham, 2002? 2003? Again needed to get away sharpish, was slowly walking down to the exit when Fulham equalised on 90+ mins - 2-2. Cue loads of people behind hastening my departure.
Each to their own, these people who are up and down all game for pint/p*ss/food are more annoying than those who just leave never to come back
