Fans Leaving Early

I was watching the chesterfield semi in the pub. When we conceeded the pen and went two goals down I'd had enough. Learnt a lesson that day. Even at seven goals down at Highbury I stayed til the bitter end.
Mind you when we'd laid on Chelsea for their fourth or fifth goal I couldn't take it anymore and left. Maybes I'm slipping

Only thing I would say is if you're leaving, leave. Don't stand around in the middle of the row if we start to attack.

I can understand people who are parked in the club car parks, the stewards seem to let people out right upto the final whistle these days so it can potentially save you 20-30 mins sat in your car

I will never understand why some leave at 35 minutes for seemingly a pint. Then others leave with 5 minutes until full time. It happened when we beat Sheff United. I said to my son why are people leaving when the result isn’t even settled?

Bit of a strange thing to get so upset about. People can do what they want.

In terms of it inconveniencing people by having to momentarily get up to let them past, thats the nature of public events, the same way that I had to move out of the way to let someone off the tube train this morning - if you dont want to be inconvenienced by the public then dont go anywhere public!
what sporting event were you trying to watch when you were on the train carriage?
does the atmosphere on the train impact the enjoyment of the experience, and the performance of the driver?

It’s not that strange. Folks who go to game and watch that game until the end are not Elitist they are not superfans and they are not part of some stay until the end brigade.

I haven't given anyone stick lol

as I've said if folks' want to leave it's up to them.. but don't go go whining if you get a bit of a boo hiss. Then doubling down on it claiming 'Football Fan Elitism' and blaming some sort of 'Superfan' mentality. The idea that we have a 'stay until the end brigade' is ridiculous.

If anyone deserves some stick its the ones that leave.. not the ones that stay.
That's bullshyt. If you're going to get on people's backs for doing what they want to do you deserve everything that comes back at you.

Nobody deserves stick for leaving when they want to, and they've contributed the same as those that stay. Little wonder they get the 'superfan' treatment. Self righteous pricks.

The atmosphere at a football game is entirely influenced by whats happening on the pitch, not whether or not a few fans are leaving early! Maybe you would like us all to be locked in to further your own enjoyment? Forced singing perhaps? jesus wept... :ROFLMAO:

no, none of the above.

you think the stadium emptying doesn't impact the atmosphere? jesus wept :ROFLMAO:

people can do what they want. And people can feel free to think it's irritating, if they find it so.

Id say you need to get out a bit more but actually thats probably the opposite of whats needed! :ROFLMAO:

I used to rush to get back to the car as soon as the final whistle went and would spend ages waiting for the traffic and crowds to clear. This season I’ve been hanging back to clap the players off the pitch and taking my time getting back to the car. I don’t get home that much later but I spend about half the time in the car. It’s far less stressful when you take yourself out of the competition to be the first one home.

We leave most games early regardless of score. I go with my little lad and the chew trying to get out of our car park isn't worth it, not missed anything to note in the last 18 months!

You’ve missed about 5 and half games worth of football.

The best part of the games too.. the most intense with the result and the reaction.

Can’t imagine being a kid and going to games for 18 months and not seeing the end of the game.

I’m guessing it would be a bit gutting.

The two guys who sit to my right are always late in by at least five minutes, disappear early at HT, back late and even when the game is in the balance leave at least five minutes early. They are probably watching on the tellies in the concourse but even so I reckon they miss between 15 and 20 minutes EVERY game. Their money, their lives but...

At the other end of the stupid spectrum is me, still there at the end v Coventry...
Sounds like you sit near me. My father in law and his mate down to an absolute tee! 🤣

They always leave 5 minutes early to grab an early taxi. They’ve missed a fair few late goals in the last few seasons.

I rarely leave early as usually get my free pint at FT and stay back in The North stand but I’d had my fill in the Coventry game. Left at about 85 and went for a few drinks to drown the sorrows.

Fair play to anybody who endured that.
