It really is. Especially with the Mercedes powered cars having 2 on softs, one with clean air and one with DRS on every lap.Max fastest lap is quite incredible on a non red bull track
I assume the race tomorrow will be almost identical, a half a second a lap quicker car isn't fast enough to overtake even with DRS for the front runners. Bottas will probably have some joy further back, as will Perex.I enjoyed that. Nothing happened up front but as usual the midfield was really interesting. Perez going backwards and then forwards and Alonso being racey.
Superb "race" for the McLarens. Ricciardo comfortably gets a point and Lando had some pair on him to overtake Lewis as he was easing him towards the wall. Should be interesting tomorrow. You'd think McLaren can keep with a red bull around here
It is slow to medium speed corners he struggles with, 75%-80% of this is just sat flat out, but yeah, encouraging for him. Lewis didn't make a dent in either of the papyrus runners, I can't see tomorrow being much different.Delighted for Danny ric
hopefully he’s finally mastered that McLaren.
You might be right. But it is a track you can overtake. Even if the DRS is almost pointless given how small the wings are anyway. But it'll be interesting to see Perez pushing to get to the front and Bottas and (to a lesser extent) Gasly working through from the back.I assume the race tomorrow will be almost identical, a half a second a lap quicker car isn't fast enough to overtake even with DRS for the front runners. Max procession to win with Lewis trying to battle past the McLarens.
Probably.
They won’t have the pace to challenge him, they were well off the top two even after 17 laps. Just hope we don’t have max pulling 20 seconds by the time Hamilton can get past the mclarenIt'll be interesting to see Max under pressure from McLaren rather than Mercedes for once.
Yes not enough risk v reward either.Still think this sprint can work if next seasons regs mean the cars can actually follow each other, feels a bit pointless at the moment though. For most drivers they have far more to loose than gain
If they want another race on Saturday to make it a 'weekend' event for fans, I'd suggest a totally different approach.Still think this sprint can work if next seasons regs mean the cars can actually follow each other, feels a bit pointless at the moment though. That sounds awfulIf they want another race on Saturday to make it a 'weekend' event for fans, I'd suggest a totally different approach.
Maybe let the reserve drivers have a crack, or the youngsters/back up drivers. Maybe even make the W series a combined thing where the main F1 teams have another car that youth/females can run at each event weekend on the Saturday (or ten of the races or something). Don't mess about with the main competition.
It would at least preserve the historical F1 GP that they are messing with, and give something different. That sounds awful
I think the concept can work, but anything like that takes away the main aim which is essentially to attract more viewers over a race weekend. Needs to be something with all the drivers that has some significance in the championship to make it workIf they want another race on Saturday to make it a 'weekend' event for fans, I'd suggest a totally different approach.

So two races one Saturday, one Sunday at 50% race distance half points for both, with two separate qualifying sessions then?I think the concept can work, but anything like that takes away the main aim which is essentially to attract more viewers over a race weekend.
