Exeter away - Ticket info

I did have a problem with the ticket pricing because I thought it would ensure that for the majority of South West Supporters it would mean no entry because of the demand for them arising in the north with people who have a big priority bonus already acquired., these two games coming up are very special occasions for the South West Supporters, and while many do not go to every game or even a lot of games, they do spend on merchandise who also pass the on the addiction for the club to their family and friends and this helps keep the club have a profile in a more remote part of the uk.
When I was with MSS, the club realised it was important for the club to have a profile in the South , I hope the club realises that an aspect of a growing club is having good interaction with the various regional supporter clubs, the Mackems do with theirs and you can see it in the various organised travelling of regional based clubs, sometimes it causes Wearside based Mackems who have loads of points to sit out their dummies when the branches get access to highly sought after tickets.
I wish Rob could make a case for the club reserving at least 50-100 tickets for South West fans, through Facebook and other means we are are known to each other, the organisers live in Plymouth and do go to every home match, they could be a focal point for a distribution of a side run of tickets to SW Boro, from that point of view it would be fair and the pricing would be great for a wider supporting base of Boro fans.

Agreed. As somebody who has a season ticket, I would have no issue whatsoever with the club implementing such a system where they allocated a small number of tickets to fans groups in that geographical areas (South-East, South-West, etc).

Tickets will become available, from those who buy tickets with no intention of going to the match. Keep your eyes peeled on hete and other socials.

It is a great pity you didn't post this a week ago.

I could have but I still believed some tickets might make it too general sale at that point, But the reduction in prices by the club means that Boro fans in that area will very likely miss out on the Exeter game, which is a shame for them, they could still make it but the club needs to get it skates on and announce there is going to be some put aside, it makes no difference to me anyway, I have my ticket coming to me from the other side. I know a lot of people coming down for this and there will be people from the South West Supporters group meeting up with or without tickets, as they will be on Saturday in Plymouth.

Cardiff, Swansea, Bristol City all made general sale last year and were Saturday games. Having said that I think they were all 2,200 plus away allocations.

The old Boro Pride scheme was useful to Boro fans in the S/W as they could join for £10 - get £4 discount on home games. So attending 3 games a season at the Riverside recovered the price of the card and the card gave some priority over other non season ticket holders for games in the South.

It could have been suggested but we all know there’s no chance the club would have gone for it. They will have been terrified of upsetting someone, “I have 85 points why am I missing out to someone with less points? They should get on their bike and get to more games”.

When it comes to match tickets most people just turn into full-on Tories, they only want a system which is skewed in their favour and there’s a massive sense of entitlement.

Personally I’d support it, but I know I’m in a tiny minority.

Have you got a link to the Facebook group in the south west?. Have a mate who lives in Dartford would be interested.

This wasn't the match to do a ticket offer, bad advice to the club if they took any. There will be several hundred in the south west who stand little or no chance of going who for them this match is very big as is the Plymouth match, many of them go a handful of matches so are very proud Boro fans who were looking forward to a big day out, I know I will get a ticket but that is because I went down the path of assuming I would not be getting into the away end and what could I do to ensure my access.
Are there any people on here who would admit they will buy just to boost their points?

Zoo - Dartford is in Kent, best to join MSS if its Dartford.

If it is Dartmouth that is the South West.

I too would be interested in Facebook Boro SW - I am sure there are a few hundred - I remember Yeovil away and the terrace behind the goal was Boro and around 400 seats full down the side. It was a nothing match, last game of the season with nothing to play for. Plymouth away in 2010 dark days of Strachan - about 1,300 Boro fans for an Easter game with only very slim chance of the play offs.

I remember staying in a random B&B in Penzance about 1992. Got inside and looked on the hall way wall and there was a City & Guilds catering and hospitality certificate award to the owners daughter, from Redcar and Cleveland College. I thought that's a bit strange. I got talking to the owner and he had moved down with his family from Brotton where he ran the Green Tree Pub? In 2003 remember staying on a farm in a remote part of Cornwall (Grampound Road I think) and had a car with a Boro sticker in the back and the crusty yeoman Cornish Farmer who owned the place said "my daughter's boyfriend is a Boro fan"

I don’t personally, I got enough away games. But I know plenty who do.

Take my office as an example. Soon as they announced the discount tickets one of my colleagues said “Brilliant, I’ll be buying one of them. Cheap points”. If the club hadn’t discounted them he wouldn’t be buying one.

He’s got a season ticket and goes to maybe 6 away games a season. His logic is he wants the points to move him into the next points band to ensure he gets tickets for Leeds, Rotherham and Huddersfield. He gave up his season ticket for a season when he was working away so doesn’t have Chairman’s Drink points. So the way he see’s it is as he’s playing catch-up at the start of every season because the club don’t give you any way of gaining Chairman’s Drink or gold card status he needs to buy away tickets when they’re cheap to get himself on a level field with those who have either 5 or 10 extra points a season given to them.

I can’t really argue with him, as if I was in that situation I’d probably do the same.

It’s not unique to Boro. My other colleague who’s a Newcastle season ticket holder bought tickets to West Ham and Wolves away with zero intention of going. It’s cost him £60 but he can afford to it and it’s put him in a position to get Dortmund away tickets.

Anybody who does that and doesn’t go would be depriving Boro vital away support and therefore I hope they don’t entertain that thought.
That is 100% going to happen. Another fault of the priority points system. Keep an eye of for tickets for sale on Twitter…

Actually, and this isn’t meant to be flippant or controversial or disparaging in any way, but why should anyone be ‘rewarded’ for travelling to a football match of their own volition?

Like people who go away to Southampton or Leeds and get walloped 6-1 and go online demanding their money back. It’s weird.

If someone is travelling from Boro down to Devon twice in 4 or 5 days then that’s amazing support and I commend it but it’s still a personal choice. Is a reward really necessary. It just ends up arbitrarily dividing up supporters into even smaller groups.
Absolutely.

Newcastle have implemented ID checks at away grounds. If you are found to have sold on your tickets you lose all your accumulated points (and they go way back in history). I understand it has had a big impact( in terms of sales reaching lower bands).

They do, but from his experience it doesn’t happen or is very rarely done.

They also say they’ll remove points from people who bought a ticket but haven’t attended the fixture, his point for West Ham is still on his account.

How can they remove points from people who don’t attend, people may buy and circumstances change, life is very fluid, they simply can’t force people to attend once purchased. Especially with some clubs being averse to giving refunds.

Yeah you’d be very miffed if you’d shelled out for tickets, got Covid (for arguments sake) and missed the game only to later find out you haven’t even got a loyalty point to show for your money.

I suspect that’s why they’ve not enforced it and at least for the moment it’s an empty threat.

Then the Club should simply state the purchase of Exeter tickets does not qualify for the loyalty points on this occasion then and that would solve the issue. Or would that be grossly unpopular.
