Everton new owners

Everton just got taken over by 777, the owner of that company is in abit of trouble isn't he, how did they pass the ethics test?

Unbelievable. Can't believe that's gone through. Start the countdown for them getting wound up.

It's just so depressing to think how far away removed the big clubs are from their cities and the fans. You can only hope to compete if you have a hedge fund or oil nation behind you pumping hundreds of millions into your club and signing players who are multi millionaires and who after just a few years will never have to work again as long as they live, and neither will their children. Making middle men and agents immediate millionaires and incredibly powerful.

Its not about developing your own players and finding gems from the lower leagues and developing a team. Its about splurging cash and sacking managers after half a season.

Do we REALLY want to get promoted into that?

If 20 PL clubs get taken over with new owners, most are going to be disappointed, I don't know why it's appealing to take over a football club, unless you get it absolutely bang on like Brighton or Man City, you're not going to make any money, you might aswell open your window and throw millions out the window.

I don't think these billionaire owners and nation states are in it solely to make money. They're here to help build up their 'portfolios' with the esteem that comes with owning British institutions that have long and established history's. That's where the value is for them and their agendas, its not necessarily a direct monetary one imo, but more about owing something that has intrinsic historical value. Then there's the more sinister side, like the Saudi's, whose sole reason to buy the skunks was to sportswash British football fans and our media in an effort to deflect attention away from their barbaric regime. And its worked a treat going by how the geordies en-mass now defend anything Saudi related from criticism.

I get what you are saying but I absolutely love rolling over the big clubs and watching their fans cry about it. The last time we were up I noticed the inter web full of arrogant big club fans from Africa and India talking shyt, it’s ludicrous and hilarious.

I think Bob Mortimer summed up our last trip to the Prem by saying something like: We turned up, farted and left.

Also funny is watching angry billionaires combust when they realise they can't all win.
Also observing the previous 'big dogs' such as Man Utd who are now mere paupers compared to the petro-clubs.
Fook em all!

I wonder if and when there are a vast majority of US owners, whether they will try and implement more radical rule changes to the game and even promotion and relegation. Not sure it will be all a bed of roses with all these foreign owned clubs. Surely they all can't make money out of football?

Relegation is the next target without a doubt. And as you say with so many now in that mindset then who could stop it.

The us don’t do relegation at all.

I reckon it will be a reduction in places or (and this is the route I think they’ll pick) a play off v the championship clubs to stay in.
