Euro tunnel closed

I read the majority threads on FMTTM and get to know the participants. This thread has convinced me the SmallTown is a Small minded poster with a very high opinion of him self. Who talks a lot of b***ks.

Am I wrong? Wasn't brexit mainly voted for to restrict immigration? Yes it was. Well they've got their wish.

I voted for brexit as I wanted us to gain back CONTROL of our borders and laws. Where does "cut us off from Europe" come from. Just more fake news from you.

Same thing though ;).

The voters wanted to isolate us from Europe for some reason. They've got their wish. As we've pointed out numerous times. The specifics of brexit were not known back in 2016. Sure you might not have expected it to be so successful but there you go

Can we either change the thread title or get back on track. Closing the border will also have detrimental affect on Europe freight coming the other way as well.

Yes, case rise is indeed scary. I just read that there is potentially 2 doublings of hospital admissions already baked in, for some areas. ☹️ Which is just downright scary!
My post was a little bit tongue in cheek but the new strain being discussed widely now, provides a perfect opportunity for the EU to demonstrate what a catastrofuck Brexit is going to be, right in the midst of the (current) final moments of negotiations.
I accept it was a bit of a mischievous post on my part
The mischief was worth it I learned a new word, catastrofuck, I wish I could invent a word!;)

If I had a pound for every time I've heard someone say "screw the EU, they need us more than we need them" I'd be a rich man now.

This doesn't apply to all leave voters but there is an element who seem to want us to return to the 19th century empire, "Brittania rules the waves". Well its a different world nowadays, you need to work with other countries, build partnerships.

This 'us vs them' attitude isn't going to win us any friends and isn't going to help our country. We are getting a little taste of it now with the French border closing, if he messes up the Brexit talks we could be in serious trouble.

Is this what the end of empire really looks like? Not the retreat from the colonies after 1945 but the internal collapse and disintegration of the mother state?

Maybe like when Austo-Hungary collapsed after WW1 the Austrians thought that was their end, but that wasn't fully realised until the aftermath of WW2.

Isn't this the French having control of THEIR borders, you know, being a sovereign state and all that.- Something the UK has always been able to do as we have always been a sovereign state.

This exact situation is a direct example of EU members having the ability to do what so many brexitets have been asking for.

Being independent and making their own decisions.

The irony is obviously lost on most it seems
