and no access to France by ferries from Dover, British Government apparently didn't expect this, Portugal only letting Portuguese nationals in from UK airports

Conspiracy theory time - Are they flexing their collective muscle under the guise of covid, to try and ‘persuade’ us to give some ground in the brexit negotiations?
I mean, Netherlands, Belgium and Italy have all already detected this new strain in their backyard so ....
Or is that just a daft thought that should be dismissed? Genuine question

Nothing to do with Brexit apart from Brexit is the reason we have the most incompetent Prime Minister we've ever seen. Said Prime Minister in trying to cover up his complete **** up over Coronavirus has tried to use the "mutant" virus as a cover up for the current tier 4/cancelled Christmas debacle and has said we've got a strain that is 70% more virulent, other countries have acted accordingly.

Have you seen the number of cases Fabio, 35,000 today, that is double germany and triple italy our closest EU rivals on covid. Not sure how many tests are happening relative to Germany and Italy. I know our total is way above germany, but on a day to day basis I am not so sure. More importantly have you seen the rate of growth in the uk?

Just to make things even more interesting. A crucial date regarding Brexit was missed tonight. Although might be finessed to stop a no deal exit.

"The failure to meet the European parliament’s deadline means that ministers on the EU council representing the bloc’s capitals may need to “provisionally apply” a deal on 1 January to avoid a no-deal exit until parliament votes later in the month.

If the talks go much deeper into December, however, there may not be time for the EU capitals to translate and scrutinise the agreed text, leaving the UK to exit the transition period without new trade and security arrangements with Brussels"

The Guano just keeps piling up

I believe Ziggy that the Eu are offerring a short extension to the transition but only if an agreement is very near. That will put Johnson in a pickle as he will have to admit failure.

If a deal is not becoming very apparent they won't offer an extension as they offerred one early this year due to covid which Johnson turned down, the idiot.

Yes, case rise is indeed scary. I just read that there is potentially 2 doublings of hospital admissions already baked in, for some areas. ☹️ Which is just downright scary!
My post was a little bit tongue in cheek but the new strain being discussed widely now, provides a perfect opportunity for the EU to demonstrate what a catastrofuck Brexit is going to be, right in the midst of the (current) final moments of negotiations.
I accept it was a bit of a mischievous post on my part
