Erik Ten Hag

Luton at Home Saturday.

Imagine he will be given that, international breaks come at a bad time for him. A lot of thinking time for the board.

I very much doubt he’ll be sacked before Ratcliffe takes over the football side at Man Utd, whenever that might be?!

The only quick fix for United was for them to sign Harry Kane. That might have worked. I honestly can't see them being top four in the next decade now.

I think he’s lost the dressing room to be honest.

He’s clearly not a man manager, the whole Sancho incident will have upset some of the players and he wanted to get rid of the likes of Maguire, McTominay etc in the summer.

How many managers at the top level aren’t great man managers these days? Klopp, Pep, Arteta, Tuchel etc all great at that kind of stuff.

Is he really the root of the problem at Man Utd though? I somehow think not.
I think from top to bottom Man Utd need changing, completely restructuring. I saw Ronaldo once said when he came back to United he couldn't believe the training facilities hadn't been updated since when he first left.

Yep. You only have to listen to Gary Neville when he’s on one of his rants about the Glazers to know the problem stems from the top.

Changing manager might give them a short term boost but the problems will just come back.
They need to stick with a long term plan, Arteta had to go through a tricky period with Arsenal before turning it around. Needed to get rid of players to get were they are.

He seems totally out of his depth & the players clearly aren't responding to him at all. Sure they have a lot of problems at the club right now, but can they afford to let him continue & for them to sink even further. God knows who they'd get in though.

Is comedy gold (more like)

Anyone think it was a red card? I mean Rashford stepped on a players foot and gets sent off which obviously changed the game. With Man U pen which put them 3-2 up it was never a pen. The game has gone mad with this stupid stupid VAR. I’m absolutely sick to death of it but then again it makes the game an absolute crazy mess!!

Rashford didn’t mean it. The act was completely unintentional but still a nasty incident. VAR will always refer that and a referee always going to issue a red card. Endangering an opponent.

Similar to rugby Union with regards to head contact. All contact tends to be unintentional but at least Union has mitigation circumstances for the TMO and referee to use. It seems to be football has to start thinking the same, as there was clear mitigation for Rashford last night.

There was mitigation but we'll need to change the rules to take that into account. Decision last night was the correct one as per the current laws (despite what the sky sports pundits, most of whom played the game 20 years ago, want you to think).

As for Ten Haag, it's a tricky one. The squad are definitely underperforming at present which suggests either tactical deficiencies or motivational issues. I tend to agree that it seems there might be cultural issues at the club with inflated egos amongst the playing staff, if so, that comes from the very top in my experience.

I think he will ultimately be a very successful manager (and already has been with Ajax to some extent) but I'm not sure he's the best fit for Man U at this time.

That’s pretty much what I said!
