I loved the dystopian imagery and soundscape but apart from that, what a load of dog egg. Can safely say I'll never be revisiting it. I had quite high hopes for it too, from what I'd read online. You live and learn!
 
It's a David Lynch film, say no more.
I'm a huge fan of Twin Peaks, even the absolutely mental 3rd series. Like a lot of arthouse stuff, it's not meant to explain itself, more that it's meant for you to relate to it somehow. The bizarre mixed with the mundane is always going to divide opinion.
My favourite movie of last year was Everything, Everywhere, All At Once and I know that divided opinions.
Apparently, Eraserhead is about the fear of fatherhood and Lynch's own daughter was born with club feet which is said to have been the inspiration behind the movie.
I'm sure a lot of Lynch's stuff would be more accessible if you were on drugs.
 
I love everything Lynch.

Edit - Actually that isn't true. Dune is a pile of w@nk. Lynch agrees with me on that, that's why he's disowned it and had his name taken off the credits.

Nooo, I watched it on Fri night, only because season 2 of Hannibal hadn't arrived in the post yet and yes I'm late to the party with that too so no spoilers!
 
Twin peaks is something I’ve heard lots of people talk about, but never seen a single episode of. Is it streamaboe to anybody’s knowledge, might give it a whirl

It's on Paramount+ apparently, might be able to get a free trial/subscription on Amazon, or I think you can get Paramount through Sky too.

The first series of Twin Peaks is great, I think it's his finest hour apart from Mulholland Drive. I think Mark Frost, the co-creator of the first two series, was part of the reason they were so well put together. The first 6 episodes of the second series are also good but it really goes off the rails - they had various different directors doing different episodes and it was quite cringe-inducing in places. The third series was a let down, really. There were one or two really good episodes in that third series. But series one and two are worth watching. The film, Fire Walk With Me, is pretty good but bleaker than the series. The two Twin Peaks books (by Mark Frost) that came out in about 2018 were really good, too.

I am a bit of a fan of his films but I also wonder why I watch them at the same time. Something lures me back in.

I hear that a lot and I agree that there are parts of series two that really drag. James and his pointless road trip is the first one that springs to mind and the Little Nicky stuff is pretty dreadful too. Disagree about season three though. For me that's the best thing that Lynch has ever done.
 
I certainly thought more about the 3rd series than the previous two. It was like the iceberg below the water line of the three and despite it being the least accessible, it was probably the one most TP fans wanted in terms of back story.
