I've just watched the highlights from the 5 - 0 win against Northern Ireland. Those girls can really play. Check out the fourth goal in particular. It had a touch of Dennis Bergkamp about it.

I've just watched the highlights from the 5 - 0 win against Northern Ireland. Those girls can really play. Check out the fourth goal in particular. It had a touch of Dennis Bergkamp about it.

Amazing turn and finish wasn't it? I didn't really rate Russo when I saw her playing in the Arnold Clarke Cup and I've never really seen her do anything special for Manchester United. But whenever she's come on in this tournament she's been a real threat.

I thought the opening goal was a great goal as well, placed into the top corner from the edge of the area. Unbelievable technique.

You'd expect a strong victory against Northern Ireland, who still have a team with mainly amateur players, but it was a good professional performance against a side who were really up for the game and gave everything they had to make it tough for England. Beth Mead, Kiera Walsh, Fran Kirby and Alessia Russo were standout performers for me yesterday.

Beth Mead is the daughter of someone I went to school with in Whitby. Apparently her dad was at our school too but I didn't know him. It's amazing how well she's done
