I was in America at the time so haven’t really seen the game, only the goals. According to Wikipedia, Venables didn’t make any subs through the whole game. Is this true? Also why did Southgate take the 6th penalty when Mcmanaman and Anderton were still on the pitch?

There's always a lot of selective memory from that tournament. Fact of the matter is we played 5 games at home and won 2 of them in 90 minutes, and one of them was against Scotland. Pretty pi$$ poor really. Netherlands game they played really well and they played well against Germany but just couldn't finish them off

Why you asking now 24 years later? Has it been on your mind like

I was at the match BTW but can't remember much of it apart from some **** behind me was screaming NAZI ******* at the top of his voice for 90 mins

I've really enjoyed looking back through the European Championships, missed a lot of the games due to travelling.

Have they gone further back than the 80s, I haven't caught them all?

I might be doing them a disservice but I think it was a question of bottle, the lack of it, as I recall.
I watched this the other day and ince in centre circlesvlooks like he is about to drop one he looks physically sick and very sheepish looks like hes completely bottled the pens
