He scored against Germany and Croatia at the Euros.
What's a "proper" opponent?
Sterling gets himself into those positions to get chances. There's a reason he still has plenty of goals to his name even though he misses chances. It's because he attacks the box with intent.Sterling must have compromising photos of Southgate in a bank vault somewhere. He'll probably score a tap-in (after missing three sitters) and everyone will go on about what a hero he is. Then he'll come up short - continually losing the ball/choosing the wrong option - against the first proper opponents we face.
I'm not hating on the guy, just think he's way overrated. Foden is overrated too, but still way better - as is Rashford.
England Flooded Out!I'm logging off now. Me and the wife are trying not to see any news about the game until we get home from work, to watch the whole thing, recorded.
Makes me think of that Likely Lads episode No Hiding Place
"England F..?"
Yeah, he got some tap-ins. He's an ok player, but against Italy recently he was shocking, continually losing it. I just don't think he merits the automatic starter position Southgate has him down for. Yes, he does attack the box with intent - and he'd be a useful sub - but against the better sides you need players who invariably make the right choices. He continually falls short on that score for me, needs several chances to score. Ultimately he's not top top-level and that's why Guardiola has shipped him out.He scored against Germany and Croatia at the Euros.
