England team v Iran

Brilliant performance, we dominated all over the pitch and everyone looked so comfortable and confident on the ball. We looked like a club team. I think Wales will struggle against them.

To think people were worried about a few dodgy performances in the poxy nations league.
Absolutely , means nowt.

2018 - semis, lost to a small nation we should have beaten but who did have quality.

2020/1 - final, lost narrrowly to a side we COULD have beaten but is a bigger country with huge footballing pedigree.

2022 - who knows but I don’t see an Iceland style fiasco, that’s for sure.

It's just brilliant to be able to sit and enjoy watching such a top class England performance at a tournament, regardless of the opposition.

I can still remember us not scoring until the last 10 minutes vs Trinidad and Tobago, and drawing 0-0 vs Algeria, and that was when we still had the so-called "golden generation" playing.

It was a great team performance yesterday but Bellingham stood out. Surely has to start every game alongside Rice - forget about Kalvin Phillips.

Best Southgate ever did was getting rid of Rooney as he was clogging it all up.

That’s where the new England came from
Yeah the team was unwatchable during that time period.
Not that they’re directly comparable as players and the people playing around them in this system are obviously different, but I’m continually impressed by Kane’s input for England despite his relatively advancing years, Rooney at a similar age for England stank the place out at times.
