Keep hearing that he supposedly can't pass as well. He's in the top 100 for accurate passes per 90 minutes in the Championship, for comparison Leif Davis is 201st.

80th (out of 382) for successful tackles per 90.
35th (out of 374) for interceptions per 90.
109th (out of 550) for chances created.

The constant slating he gets on here is beyond ridiculous. Feels like it's at the point where people look to try and find reasons to say something is his fault regardless of what happens.

Meaningless mate, I can use my own eyes and see he's not good enough.
If you think he is then fair play but I want better mate. He's not the only one but we've signed another left back so change it.

Yeah, I mean, I trust the actual statistics more than the armchair students of the game and their "own eyes" on here honestly, mate. The eyes of people on here seem to be seeing things that aren't actually the case so not exactly the most reliable are they.

Fighting scapegoating with fact.

It's verging on a weird kind of cyber harassment the lad is facing on here.

Watching the match from my seat in the north stand on Saturday, I didn't hear one person single him out like folk are on here. Nor have I for a good few games.

It's a strange fixation some people on this board have with him.

I'm happy with him as our left back 👍

And some people aren’t happy. He’s been rubbish for about 6 games consecutively
 
We won’t get into top six with him as left back and I can’t see anyone in the top six having him in their side.
He can go forward a bit but he hasn’t a clue about defending or understanding where opposition attackers are on the pitch
 
Top 100 for accurate passes when for the most part all he does is pass back to an unmarked centre back. He should be number 1 but he even manages to mess that it up a hell of a lot.
 
He's clearly not abysmal or "the worst left back to ever play for the boro" or anything like that but it's not quite working at the moment.

I love his attitude (a small thing, but when getting subbed on Saturday he ran off the pitch at the shortest point to keep things moving) and he never stops running. He also usually puts across a decent ball or 2 in a game, which he did on saturday as well.

One thing I noticed is that he's often wide open and desperate for the ball, sometimes even doing star jumps to get attention - but doesn't receive it. Not sure if that's the rest of the team not trusting him, or the one-footed, pedestrian nature of the team at the moment not seeing or being able to get him the ball

I think he's a good solid player in the Championship (ideally we'd be aiming higher), and in a good team he will show his worth but in a team that is struggling a bit he will be exposed.

If we got promoted he'd be one of the first to be replaced I think, but as for the summer he wouldn't be anywhere near my list of people to get rid of
 
People say they use their own eyes to form their opinions but people obviously don’t see how exposed and isolated he is left every game in our setup and the way we play.

Engel is a good player who is constantly improving, these player witch-hunts need to cease its kids stuff.
