Energy Bills (Cancel your DD)

I think this is really bad advice. You pay a higher rate if you don't pay by DD. Far better to tell them what to set your DD at, they can't set it higher if you can show that your suggested payment will cover your usage (my online energy account actually allows me to set DD payment amount on there).

I’m already £400 in credit which will go towards the winter months and help absorb the increase from October. Paying for what you use each month is not the way forward.
I was £800 in credit , I don't need to use EDF as a savings account, they are way over charging people. Yes I get the building pot up for the winter. But for me I'm going to pay for exactly what I use. Maybe not for everyone but why should they hold my money

Solution - make it against the law to have this 2 tier pricing
I never have DD for anything. I dont even let the Mrs see my account let alone give her carte blance to take what she wants

That’s fair enough then. £800 is a whopping amount.

The average user will pay about £120 a year more by not paying direct debit.

Terrible advice.
I'll take £10 a month to stop them taking way over the odds and holding my money, I'll see how the winter pans out.
Climate change equals milder winters anyway and we've all been constantly told for along time to turn the heating down and reduce our carbon footprint.

I can’t speak for all energy companies but my supplier lets me control what I pay each month. I can up my DD or lower it whenever I want.

Paying exactly what you use now and not building a credit will lead to huge bills to face in the winter, far better to be paying over now to avoid this in a few months
I'll save up in my bank account not theirs thank you very much !

Does it matter though? Either way it needs to be paid and it’s far cheaper by DD. The interest for holding the money yourself is probably worth less than 1p anyway
