Emergency striker for Cardiff?

Given Assombalonga and Akpom’s complete ineptitude and the injuries to Bolasie and Fletcher, there must be someone else who can fill the role up top and make more of an impact against Cardiff? Is it worth a throw of the dice?

1.McNair has a bit of everything and can play in every other position of the field so might be worth a go.

2.Hall might be as slow as Glenn Murray but he can challenge in the air and could give Watmore some knock-downs to work with.

3.Cardiff’s central defenders are extremely slow so Coulson or Spence’s explosive pace could be a threat to make their defenders sit deep and give more space to our midfielders.

4.Watmore is better playing off someone but has a bit of physicality and intelligence about him to give them something to think about as the lone striker.

5.Mendez Laing looks a long way off being ready but he looks like he should be able to offer some questions for the defenders to think about.

6.Saville is pretty good at winning his 50/50s and is decent at positioning himself in the right place for the ball to drop.

7.Tyrone O Neil - I think he is back with us. He might have the technique of a Northern League player but he is tall and wily.

8.Johnson has a sledgehammer of a left foot and is playing with a point to prove.

I think all these options would be better than the sleep-deprived Akpom and the 2021 version of Assombalonga.

Given Warnocks pretty damning assessment of our current crop i Wouldn't be surprised if Mendez Laing starts up top . He's a big unit & looks like he can put himself about a bit . Watmore & kebano to feed off him . Fitness over the 90 obviously a question mark.

Tav Kebano and Watmore front 3
Let’s play around the big galloots like Man City do .
we haven’t got a big lump so must do the best with what we have .
Nicer on the eye too .

I thought the thread related to an emergency striker? Can’t you find reverse, Nobby??!!
Yeah Bolasie would be the emergency striker, he normally doesn't play up there granted but I thought he did very well in the game he played up top, was it Norwich...come on Nosmo engage 1st gear hahaha

He had one shot and one header at Norwich, the header was way off target. If that floats your boat as a striker thank Gawd you are nowhere near picking the team....

The only time we looked decent was the last 15 minutes when we tried playing around them instead of oofing it in the air .
This should have been the plan all week against Cardiff , but we played into their hands most of the game .
And , Kiefer Moore was nothing special .

I's love to see Watmore in the middle with Bolshie and Kebano tucked in wide just behind him. Johnson as a back up and Tav connecting midfield and attack.

Like playing with 10 again today with Britt on - sorry to say it.

9. Archer - couldn't do any worse than them 2

10. Anyone, just anyone

Please take them 2 out of the matchday 20 for the rest of the season

We do have a squad capable of good football. Like many, I think Warnock’s ‘pass back to Bettinelli so he can hoof it’ tactic is not building on the strengths of the squad and selling our players short. It may have suited Rotherham when he was there but we have a squad capable of better. Our defenders are more comfortable on the ball than most Championship defences and we have no proper physicality up front - yet the hoofs continue.
