Dyksteel

Why does Thomas get breathing space and apparently needs games to get fit and involved in the team where as dijksteel doesn't?

I would get rid of both BTW just some players get slack others don't.

I'm sad for anf he seems a good guy

I’m sure he’s a good guy and been a good servant but he isn’t at the required level anymore. The reason Thomas got a bit more time as we have had Dijksteel for a few years now and Thomas came in on January and he had played a lot of games in the premier league. So fans were right to not judge too hastily. Ultimately he hasn’t had the impact he would have wanted and doesn’t look an improvement in either Engel or Bangura.

I would be surprised if Dijksteel is still around next season and be even more surprised if we signed Thomas permanently

I have sympathy for big Anf tonight. Hardly kicked a ball all season and thrust into that cauldron tonight against one of the best sides in the league.

That said, I think his lack of game time is an indication of where he’ll be next season. He’s not really progressed since he’s been with us. His quality on the ball and crossing is very poor. He understandably looked well off the pace tonight.

We must strive for better. Every single Leeds goals came from our right hand side.

Ayling on a permanent must be out first piece of business for the summer.

I was surprised Carrick started him to be honest, especially knowing he'd be up against arguably the best winger in the Championship.

Personally think we should have gone with wing-backs, or had VDB RB and played Howson CB alongside Clarke.

Unfortunatley have to agree. Every goal tonight was from our right. Looked promising when we bought him but injuries, confidence has affected him. Out of contract in the summer and he should go elsewhere to resurrect his career. Hopefully he will. (y)

combination of not playing and having any match fitness and up against the best winger in the league

Training ground fitness is not the same, any footballer will tell you that, but for all his physical and technical attributes Dijksteel
has always been a biffy iffy in the mental aspects of being a defender , i think he got away with it to an extent with a run of games
and confidence up, it was a chance for him tonight to show how good a player he was and potentially give Carrick a decision to make
over him or Ayling and it went t*ts up, he will be gone in the summer, i think the club do have decisions to make in the full back positons

He’s not out of contract

Dijksteel was turned inside out last night. But so was VDB. Clarke wasnt much better either and the worst of the lot was the keeper.

I don't think Dijksteel will be here next season but it will have nothing to do with last night's game where our whole defence was tortured.

However we are unlikely to have to face that level of attacking opposition again until we are promoted.

I'm a big fan of Dijk - physically he's got it and had some great spells under Wilder and even Warnock. But he was terrible tonight. Heart says get him fit and give him a chance, but head says time to move on unfortunately.

He’s been a disaster under Carrick. Thankfully going off now.
We had no option but to play him because obviously McNair contract talks have gone nowhere and he would’ve played before a very rusty dijksteel who, quite frankly, I felt sorry for him because in the circumstances, I thought he did as well as we could expect.

He has hardly played!!!
And thrown in to that.

McNair has probably played his last game for us.

He was very good for us at RCB under WIilder, but he's League One standard when he's right back.

You can make excuses about him being thrown in against Summerville but there's a reason he hasn't even come close to holding down a place under Carrick and at one point RVDB was played out of position in Dijksteel's position and that's because you simply cannot trust him not to do something stupid.

With a run of games under his belt dijksteel is a very good full back, it’s been unfair on the lad.
Look at ayling, getting pelters for 4-5 games and then found his stride.
Don’t get me wrong, ayling offers leadership qualities that dijksteel doesn’t have and so does Smith in the same position.
I just think the noise about dijksteel is grossly unfair to the lad.

He has never been good his technical ability is limited he looks so uncomfortable with the ball he looks lime he steps over it when dribbling. Positional he is poor limited pace and I still can't fathom out why we bought him.

I’ve never rated him as a footballer, but the most alarming thing was that his pace seemed to have deserted him last night as well
