I'm sure you could get away with either.

In the 90s I wasn't sure for quite a while if it was 'EIEIEIO Newcastle are sh1t you know, Keegan's a w@nchor, John Hall is/Ginola's a tvvat......'

So I used to alternate both so that I couldn't be wrong. When Ginola left I obviously settled on John Hall.
