Donald Trump - another irrelevance if he becomes president

Nothing has an impact. That's the scary thing, all the lies, the increasingly insane people he hangs out with, the senile comments, actually admitting he's going to be a dictator. They don't even dent his popularity

There's something in the human psyche, probably genetic, that admires strength and power above all else.

It's probably risen through the ages as we humans have sought bravery and leadership from our leaders through times of war and adversity.

It's why we admire and adore heroes, alpha males and those with exceptional talent, both physical and mental.

Such admiration is understandable, but it can be distorted from reality, especially these days where social media lies & manipulation are commonplace.

Hence charlatans like Trump. He knows that much of the American public value strength, power, money etc above all else, and he's conned them into the idea that he's all of those things. It really is as simple as that.

I think it's more that people hate to admit they were wrong and will more often double down no matter what. Some people will have been turned off by Johnson for example with his various misdeeds but others brushed them aside time and time again, and he could probably walk back in as leader of the tories and people would cheer.

We've seen this with brexit, trump, tories, covid, reform etc

I don't think trump even represents power, money or strength to that many people, he's just their candidate that they want to win so that they win.

Or in some cases they will admire genius...and for some reason they consider Musk one such.
He is not, he was born to wealth and like a funding lightening rod attracts it, but he does not invent anything (except his right wing bullsh*t output on the failing platform Twitter) - he is Steve Jobs without the charisma, standing on the shoulders of those who invent and create the actual products he sells.

Musk has let ego and power seriously corrupt him but he is undoubtedly a very intelligent man. You don’t get degrees in physics and economics if you’re not. Some would say there’s genius in his business acumen but he has also proven many times over that he understands the science of the many projects his businesses are involved in far more than most CEO’s.

I agree he understands it, but I see no evidence he is involved in the innovation itself.
Where are his published papers for instance, in fact on twitter itself he asked someone that question and they responded they had I thing 7 papers published in recent years, they asked "how about you" and in typical Musk fashion was banned from Twitter.

I am not saying he is an idiot, but in no way is he a genius - at least not to me.

Correct he’s intelligent but as your comment rightly highlights he isn’t innovative / inventive, and he his bang of people that prove him wrong shows a distinct lack of emotional intelligence too

I'd agree with that. He is a savvy investor and understands tech but he didn't invent EV's etc just because he cofounded Tesla, even at Tesla he's only got a couple of minor design patents

Probably some truth to that although Trump thinks he is, by traditional standards he's certainly no alpha male with exceptional talent in any field.

However that doesn't matter because I'd say in the modern, capitalist world "power" is defined by wealth more than any other measure.

A lot of people (not all of course, by any stretch. But enough to matter) see wealth and status as the key measure of a person's worth. On some level they seem to believe if a person is rich they know better than they do and should be looked up to.

Which makes sense because with capitalism the aim of the game is to become as wealthy on a personal level as possible.

So I suppose anyone wealthy in a capitalist society is an alpha.

Trump isn't wealthy, all his money is in property which he can't sell. He has next to no liquid assets, hence the constant grifting (NFTs, Bibles, Coins, Watches, Trainers etc.) and funnelling all RNC donations to his various legal funds

No but he goes on and on about how is IS an alpha male with exceptional talent. So much so that the fools believe him.

Yep. Bit of an emperors new clothes scenario I think going on there.

Anyone who's not drunk the cool aid looks on just thinks wtf, the man is clearly an imbecile.

I'm well of aware of that.

Doesn't matter because the fools who worship him don't want to look under the hood.

He gives off the perception of being wealthy and successful and that's all that matters. And he does live that lifestyle and probably will until he dies.

Unless he goes to prison 🤞
