Doesn’t look like it’s going to be a sell out on Monday

I want Leeds to stay down , not because I want to play them next year but i want Greenwood to come to us and he have a pay rise if they go up which might block the move.
This match is massive for them if Leicester and Ipswich win this weekend, it won't put an end to their automatic promotion hopes if they loose but will almost make it seem very unlikely in reality. There will be Leeds fans all over at the Riverside, this is the biggest match for Leeds against us I have ever known, it's a dead rubber for us but it couldn't in this division get much bigger for them. UTB

Edit oops I didn't realise Ipswich weren't playing this weekend.

30k (ish) for a game live on sky on a Monday night is terrific. Then add to that it's a dead rubber.

Obviously the fact they sold out helps. It's always nice to see an actual away following at the Riverside. It's a strange world where people think 30k in the champo isn't a great turnout. I mean some prem clubs don't get that.

I'm really looking forward to it. It's a 'dead rubber' for us but so much riding on the game for the dirties. Hopefully we can play with freedom. It's almost a 'free hit'. That can of course work the other way and we get hammered. I really hope not. I'd like us to go unbeaten into the summer. It's all building blocks for next season.

Also throwing a massive spanner into Leeds automatic hopes would be superb. It was only a month ago we were worried they could seal automatic in this game. Imagine that🤮

I'm very confident. 2-0 Boro. I just think they are under so much pressure. They have to really win. That will play into our counter attacking. We look far better doing that than when the likes of Rotherham / Blackburn etc sit in. That's why results against the better sides have been impressive.

This 👍.

I dislike Leeds in the same way 97% of the country do, not looking at this as a derby at all. But that's probably because I was born North of the Tees.

Bolloxing their automatic chances. Lovely.

Be a tough one though...... especially without our assist machine Ayling.

Who replaces him......🤔🤔

The game meant something to fans in some parts of North Yorkshire - places like Stokesley, Great Ayton, Northallerton, the Esk Valley Villages where support was split. When living in Whitby it was big to me as most football fans in the Whitby area supported Leeds in 1970s and 80s. At School it was Leeds versus the Rest.
No Leeds fans in Stokesley/Ayton nowadays.

My reason for disliking Leeds and this being a big game for me harks back to childhood. I grew up in Northallerton. In the early 80s nearly all the Boro supporting kids at school flipped to supporting Leeds. And I hated them for it. Never understood how they could do it and how their parent let them. Strange folk. So for me they are all weak willed deserters😂

It's absolutely fine as a crowd size.

Monday night, the worst of all nights for football and live on Sky.

The fact that match is now a virtual dead rubber for us will also have swayed a good number to stay at home.

Must be an age thing. I see leeds as a bigger game than most but no where near a Sunderland level. They probably don't see us as a rival really. It's just all the Leeds supporting East Cleveland and whitby etc that big it up.

Looking forward to it feel should be a very end to end exciting game as Leeds will have to go for it and our pace on the counter attack should do damage

It’s not. I live in Leeds. Have done on and off since the early 2000’s. We’re just another game.
I think that's the point right there. Leeds fans who live in Leeds probably don't have many personal connections to Boro fans. However, for Boro and Leeds fans in split areas of North Yorkshire, there is a definite rivalry. Thirsk for example is a mixture of Boro, Leeds & others. As are many other North Yorkshire towns and villages. You don't need to travel far south of Boro to find Leeds fans. That's where the rivalry is.

You don't even need to leave Teesside.

I know plenty of Leeds fans in Redcar.

A guy I went to school with was a Leeds fan.
