Does anybody still smoke?

It’s sad what tobacco companies did to this earth and they’re still going strong in places like the Middle East, Asia and Africa. Millions died before and millions will die after. So unfortunate and so unnecessary.
Tobacco companies are actively targeting the 3rd world now. It's criminal.

I know it's illogical and ridiculous, but I do, although I've cut down as the years have gone by. I'm interested in some of the comments on this thread, as I know a lot of people who smoke- maybe we all gravitate together, I don't know? I'm a college/Uni lecturer- perhaps it goes with the territory??

I'm also mindful of some other observations on here too. I haven't smoked in the house since 1992, and prefer an open space to do it, so I would consider myself less of a nuisance to the rest of society as I might have been 40 years back.

Well I'm surprised just how few people on this thread still do smoke, it's a breath of fresh air

I smoke - no intention of stopping at the minute. I suspect lots of smokers don't want to risk being lambasted so haven't replied. 14% of the british public smoke with the biggest percentage being in the young at 25%.

I'm 60 next month & stopped when I was 25 I didn't intend to just felt unwell for a few days & didn't smoke during that time, once back ok I just never smoked again

Erimus I had norovirus a couple of years ago and was very ill for 3 weeks and didn't smoke at all, I still look back and ask myself why I started again, 3 weeks in you are a third of the way to quitting.

Strange day I also stopped putting sugar on anything, crazy things you remember

Never smoked and always hated it. Mum and dad were heavy smokers, my mum gave up when I had kids, it eventually killed my dad. Mum got a healthy 14 years after he passed, but died of Covid in April.
Remember visiting my dad in Middlesbrough General as a kid and everyone on the ward was smoking!
Kind of remember people smoking as they browsed in Marks and Spencer's (late 60's/early 70's)
& me and Mrs Soup were given the last row of non-smoking on a flight to Kenya 30 years ago... 9 hours of hell!
