Does anybody still smoke?

Vape, used to smoke. Think vaping makes me feel worse, winding myself up to rap it in. Stressful job though and a bit of a fanny!

When you joined up, terriers used to get issued a tin of Golden Virginia with papers and windproof matches with the rest of your kit.
Also got issued a "housewife" (!!) - thread and spare buttons to keep your combats in order.

Never started. No one in my friend group did. Never really understood the attraction, nor how people afforded it.

hated kissing a smoker, and how if you buy anything and they’re a smoker it has that smell, so need to check in advance.

Of all the people I know I can only think of 1 person who does, funnily enough he's an Oxford graduate and doing well for himself; if anybody should know better it's him

Obviously tried it a few times when I was younger, but have never enjoyed it.

I'll not touch a cigarette again now though, my Dad was a heavy smoker for years and that's what saw him off.

My dad smoked since he was 13 he’s 79 now . He packed in over 15 yrs ago .

My mam died of cancer and my brother survived it .

I can’t believe people chose to smoke based on what we’ve known about smoking for decades , there’s nothing good about it . It should be banned .

Too much tax money and political donations from Tobacco companies. Wealth before health.

Increasingly rare as it should be. Of the very few family and friends who did smoke I think all have quit. Not aware of anyone I work with still smoking either.

I've not looked at stats or anything but assume it's heavily linked to socio economic status these days?

I don't smoke but like the smell of a fresh cigarette, understand the stress relief they bring and quite liked the occasional smoke in days gone by.

If it wasn't bad for you, ridiculously expensive and didn't make you stink for the rest of the day I would probably have one right now.

Similarly with cigars. As i get into my twilight years I expect I may revisit it, via a pipe.
