Doctor Martens Boots

My son destroyed so many pairs of school shoes, we found a company called Treadz where we got his last pair and these are amazing, sole doesn't wear away and not a single scuff!
I got over that shoe destruction issue by sending my lad to school in only his socks. He soon learned to look after his shoes.

To be fair, it's not that he was doing anything wrong, we just couldn't find a pair of shoes that didn't end up with a hole or split in the sole within one term. He was walking the 3 mile round trip in them daily though.

Tredz were about £60, but have far outlasted any he;;s had before so worth the extra cash.

Remember days when you had to take your boots off to stand on the Holgate- am sure some DM’s were amongst the boots hanging up!!
Police made me take the laces out of my DM's when we we went to watch Charlton's Champions play at Preston.

Got my first pair of oxblood DM's from Manchester House (over the border) - £6.99 for them !

Always with either brown laces, string or leather, never with yellow

Had many pairs over the years.

In the 70's it was always the Red ones with 8 holes - you then had to choose between Ox Blood or Cherry (I preferred Ox Blood).
Had a couple of pairs of 10 holes but they were a mess about to get on and off.

When we were at school, the trend was to colour the stitching red and white (Boro) with a crayon.

Always looked great with half mast french flares or later, drainpipes when Punk came along.
