Do you still have faith in Gibson?

Southgate appointment,
Strachan appointment,
Not backing Karanka in the January window,
Agnew appointment,
Monk appointment,
Pulis appointment,
Woodgate appointment,
Flip flopping from one style of manager to the other, leading to the club having to change the majority of the players,
Overseeing the current period where we've gone from playoff contenders to bottom of the division,
All the above while interfering in recruitment and charging some of the highest prices in the division.
You missed the decision not to replace Schwarzer, in 2008.

And his daft/misinformed comments about Stockton on the radio. Before that I honestly thought he was flawless.

the same posters say the same things over and over and over again - and then have the audacity to cite gibson as the one who is repeating business mistakes.

indeedido - always consistent and i respect him for that - but come on, 'one of the 4' - name him and perhaps we can see why this person may or may not have said that - as we see everyday on this board, bitter men say bitter things.

people with no 'success' in any field, sector or life bawling into their pobs

Gibbos ambition is still there, his drive is still there and his support for boro is still there - i dont doubt it one little bit and there is literally no one i would rather have at the helm.

i'm backing Steve Gibson - the most reasoned and loyal football chairman in English football.
And the same dwindling number of posters tell us how we should be grateful for Gibson whatever he has done.
Gibson is part of a very successful haulage business. He is the dictator at a calamitous football club that has lost a quarter of a billion pounds.

You have no idea what the experience of any of the posters on this board is.

You have no idea whether his ambition or drive is still there.

You seriously expect me to specifically name the person who said this to me?
So that you can cast your judgement on his supposed motives?
You have no willingness or capability to consider any criticism of Gibson.
I can recognise and congratulate him for the vision, drive, energy and balls that transformed the club to 2006.
Equally I can recognise he has been a disaster since then.

This is the key part which his fanboys either cannot differentiate or deliberately conflate. The two are not mutually exclusive.

He was a key part in saving the club nearly 40 years ago. He led us through the greatest period we have ever seen and will ever see. But from May 2006 onwards his stewardship has been, at best, questionable.

It is perfectly proper to ask if he still has the same enthusiasm or ability to oversee the club. The former I don't know. the latter it's clear he doesn't.

The fact that people can't name a potential new saviour doesn't negate the above and isn't the 'gotcha' some people think it is. I bet very few Chelsea fans could have named Roman Abramovic prior 2002/2003.

we have this fractious series of posts everytime the boro are on a losing streak.

i asked paulh on one of his gibsob postings, what decisions he thought gibson had got wrong - he couldnt answer till someone else (uncle rico) gave an answer.

people with no 'success' in any field, sector or life bawling into their pobs - its baffling as to what they think they have - most wouldnt know a footballer from a 2 humped camel (see the silvera postings) - yet we are to be led by the nose by their wisdom and insight - i doubt most couldn't light a candle safely or know how to wipe their own @rses correctly.

He hasn’t shown much ambition of late. No doubt his supports there. But ambition? Come off it

Absolutely ! no Gibbo, eventually, no Boro

I think the financial state of the club outweighs any ambition he may have left.
If we'd have got lucky last season and went up then i think that the injection of money would have made a huge difference, probably allowing a buyer to be sought as well.
As it was, we missed out and now, in my opinion at least, we are seeing the future. By that I mean cut price punts that might make enough money to sustain the running of the club and not a lot else.
We are probably as far away from being able to mount a promotion challenge as we've ever been and we certainly aren't going to be top of any prospective buyers shopping list.
All those people who were bemoaning the number of loans we had should now be fully aware that good loans are the key to getting out of this league unless you have the financial backing to sign good players. We currently have neither and I really fear for our future, both immediately and long term.

Over the past years since we ere initially relegated from the PL he's got more wrong than right. Lets not forget the terrible situation we were in before Warnock - but the poor players we had then seem a lot better than the ones we have recruited this summer

Last season feels like the recruitment team were told to get the best players they could in the summer and Jan

This season it feels like they have been told to spend as little as possible, thats the difference.

Surely it won't be Gibson who picks the next manager? Otherwise what is Scott doing at the club?

A properly run club with a DoF will have a shortlist of the next 5-10 managers already drawn up.

One of the four guys that saved Middlesbrough FC in 1986 said to me over ten years ago.
"He will take us back where we were when he first got involved" which was summer 1986.
I told him not to be so daft.
He was right.
He was right. Apart from more fans, the Riverside, a trophy, two European campaigns and some cup finals.
Oh, and not being on the brink of extinction.

Please remove your rose tinted glasses. Gibson has no ambition to get promoted, you only have to look at our signings, not many with proven experience at this level, but youngsters with 'potential'.
We need experienced signings to get out of this league

Nope, lives off his past reputation and he is not rich enough to run a successful team anymore. He’s a millionaire in a billionaires playground.

Sad this comment has more likes then laughing faces, if it was anybody else he would get absolutely slandered. If he loves the club he’d clear the debt and sell up.

I think he obviously wants us to go up. I’ve never questioned his intentions until now I genuinely believe he’s lost the plot and has no affiliation with the club no more. Bar 6 months of last season he’s basically ran the club like a circus and people still sing his names at matches
