Watch RT and decide what you think:
How does this compare with UK private "media"?

RT is not Russian domestic media though it’s their media to show the rest of the world their cnn So even that is filtered as appearing more liberal and global

Rossiya 1 etc is the real state media

Not totally on topic, but not totally off-topic. At the moment I am reading a couple of history books by Ben McIntyre about WW2 and cold war spies. During WW2 Germany had almost no spy presence in Great Britain, and when they sent spies over they were either captured pretty quickly because they were so ill-prepared and inept, or upon arrival in the country they turned themselves in and many became double agents working against Germany.

However on the other hand, the Russians had an extensive and highly effective UK based spy network throughout WW2 and into the cold war era, and their spies included high ranking staff in MI5 / MI6 and other parts of the establishment, and they went undetected for years on end. They recruited many through the public school old-boys network.

His books are well worth a read if you are at all interested in that kind of stuff.

The British State banned it - they see it as a threat.
Why?

Utter rubbish.

You are comparing the bbc world service to RT.

Laughable.

Btw the bbc world service is not bbc news.
The World Service is as much a propaganda organ as RT or any other State Media.
By the way - the BBC World Service has a news service ["Newshour" - and "The Daily News Podcast"] https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/live:bbc_world_service
- as you will undoubtebly be aware of.
The Service is supported by the British Government Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
The picture it paints is one of a liberal, welcoming, democratic UK.
Any pretence of unbiased objective reporting is a myth.

RT was not designed for Russians it was designed to preach to the west in ENGLISH.
As is the World Service. It was originally the BBC Empire Service - designed [and still does] to project an image of the UK and promote soft propaganda.
That`s why it broadcasts in 42 languages.
The only difference between RT and BBC World Service is that RT declares its hand to offer a Russian perspective of the world.
The BBC World Service does nothing less.

This is an American You Tube channel called 1420, they "vox pop" Russian people and ask them some interesting questions. Obviously no one is going to answer the question "should we shoot Vladimir Putin" but the questions asked are interesting in the replies that are given. So this particular question is "Should Russia take Alaska back?"

We have no way of knowing how representative of the whole Russian population the answers are (we aren't told where the interviews are taken or how many - I'm guessing Moscow or St Petersburg) but I think it shows that a lot of Russian people know exactly what is going on but are powerless to even protest about it.

Utter rubbish.

The world service has been a life line for many people in totalitarian regimes as for many it was and is there only way to hear what was happening outside their countries regime.

To cheapen it with a throwaway insult like that is not justified.

It’s been a fantastic thing that this country did.
