Play him up front as striker. Win Win Win
No money on a potential striker signing
Hes hopeless at defending - we don't have to worry about him tracking back
He has eye for goal scored some good goals for Forest
We already have a better right wing back.
We're already paying his wages

On me head son

“Good goals for Forrest”…. 2
One admittedly was a screamer.

I think this hype is amazing for a guy who’s only scored 4 goals + 4 assists in his whole career (4 years). Just shows you what a couple of performances on sky and some media hype can do.

I understand the numbers show that but, living in Nottingham, all my mates have been raving about him all season and they watch him week in week out not just on a couple of Sky performances.

He do a better job than the 3 lads who left all put together.

Forest have been atrocious for decades though so their fans are starting from a very very low base in terms of expectations.

Adama Traiore would have blown their minds.

So how much hype was there around our best player the last time we got promoted and was it justified? They might well have been atrocious for a long time but they got promoted and Spence was a huge part of that

What I'm saying is that those who put the hype down to 2 perofmrnaces on Sky have generally only watched him on 2 performances on Sky. He's had a really good season and big a huge part of a promotion team.
He's the equivalent of Adomah or Ramierez from our promotion season.

Maybe amongst Forest fans, but the hype outside of Forest is definitely based on those two performances (hello Mr Wright).

I can't remember any hype at all around Adomah. Respected and appreciated but not hyped.
I would say the hype around Ramirez was justified - his ability was never in doubt even before he joined us, it was his attitude that was the risk.

Of course the hype outside Forest is based on those 2 games. The hype within forest is justified by a season of consistently excellent performances that resulted in promotion.

Excellent performances that resulted in 2 goals and a few assists, far less than many other players in the league.

I will politely inform the population of the city that they don't know what an excellent performance is because the stats that have been poured over don't corroborate what they've seen week in week out.

It's almost as if football fans are parochial and think some players are better than others simply because they play for their club, or establish a bond with that set of fans.

There's plenty of players from Boro who us fans have raved about, but fans of other clubs just don't see the same as we do when they look at it objectively and without the passion that comes from being a fan.

It's OK LJ the city has agreed to bow to the superior knowledge of posters on a message board who have seen him a couple of times this season.

If you're going to be facetious, then this messageboard is willing to bow to the knowledge of some anonymous rose tinted Forest fans who have spent the last few years watching absolute dross for the last few years, but are seemingly the oracle on all things football when it comes to recognising a good player.

I thought being facetious was exactly what this message board was for.

My point was the line 'Just shows you what a couple of performances on sky and some media hype can do'
That's genuinely not what has happened here. Spence has been consistently a major part of a promotion winning team. It's only boro fans who for some bizarre reason want to talk the lad down who insist he only played well in two sky games.

I honestly don't think that is the case at all.
Spence did very well on loan for Forest and is in line for a big money move to the Pl as a result.
All that people with balance would add is that we've seen him play more than Forest fans, we've watched him play an awful lot on TV for Forest last season and he is not a world beater by any stretch of the imagination.

Spence will earn himself a big contract, Boro a big fee and helped Forest to an unlikely promotion.
Everyone has been a winner, but few of us give a stuff what happens to him once he makes his move.
