The right wing-back has been impressing Forest fans against Sheffield United

Nottingham Forest fans are raving about wing-back Djed Spence on social media this evening.

The 21-year-old, who is on loan from Middlesbrough, started the game at right wing-back.

His display led to a flood of tweets throughout the first half about his 'amazing' and 'quality' attributes.

Many are questioning why Boro let him out on loan in the first place, something which will leave fans of both clubs scratching their heads for answers.

If his performances continue in this manner, Forest fans suspect the club will not be able to afford to make his loan deal a permanent one at the end of the season.

Here is what fans are saying on Twtter:

@LeeAndrew1865: Spence on his way to Barcelona via Nottingham. Got to admire the audacity.

@ojfletcher: So confused why #boro let @DjedSpence go on loan??? He’s amazing

@NJL82: How Spence doesn't get in the Boro team is a huge mystery. Top wing back #NFFC

@barkey87: Djed Spence is quality!

@MrUrban83: Spence is wasted at wing back, id push him further forward

@mallyslife_: Djed Spence is literally quadrupling his price tag, we are never going to be able to afford him

@alex_iskandar: Surely we will try to keep him at the City Ground!

I'd sell him before he blows up and returns to type.

I'm not saying he's sh*t and definitely good enough for us. That said the large majority of Boro fans were calling him brainless etc before we moved him on.

I'm more annoyed everytime Patterson scores for Swansea. What a free transfer.

Warnock will probably sell him for bobbins
The Trees blokes at work think we are flippin mad letting him go out on loan. They keep saying "cheers for Djed Spence mi duck".
If I was his agent, I`de be twisting their arm to buy him.
Their Manager still has a few players he can get off the wage books and Spenna wouldnt cost a fortune.
Coulson is finally getting praise wearing the blue shirt of Ipswich too.
Mmmmmm

Doesn’t it tell you something that he seems to be rated everywhere else apart from this football club?

Take him over our current right sided player any day of the week and twice on a Sunday. Sent the wrong bloke out on loan - imagine if he got the same run of games others get.

I’ve been Saying for weeks now letting a good young player like him go to yoiur division rival is frankly madness.

I get that. I rate him going forward and he's better than we have.

It's madness to loan him to a side in the same league. That said I was all for selling if anyone remotely offered the 4-5 Mil been throw around with wolves etc.

The fact is Warnock clearly hates him. I mean 'hates' and just wanted him out.... We don't know what he was like in training and dressing room.

He's not the first or last player to sign for a new club and look like a different player.

Spence will always be the same: wildly inconsistent. He started like a house on fire for us under Woodgate and Warnock in that first season, and looked overexposed and weak defensively in the second. Far from the finished article, if Forest fans are still talking like this come March then we need to worry.

They`ve got good cause to (y)

That's probably the best outcome. I can't see him wanting to play for NW again. Unfortunately he might just want to move on regardless.
And if so that would be a bad loss. Losing a talented player is something we shouldn’t be doing when we have need of them.

If he was here now he’d still be guff and many, me included, would still be moaning about him.

Maybe, just maybe, it’s the management failing to get the best out of him here…

Even better outcome: Newcastle pay silly money for him; he doesn't want to live in the NE any more; ends up at AFC Wimbledon.
