Dispiriting home performances

That’s what I just put in a text to someone - typical home performance
The passing was like trying to dodge shoppers on a Saturday afternoon
Another team who came for a point and got it

We need to stop.looking at ourselves for the poor home atmosphere's , the team has been playing gash at home for a while now, once they start making homes matches exciting and a pleasure to watch then the home atmosphere turns,
What came first the chicken or the egg?

Sometimes teams need their fans to give them that lift and carry them over the finishing line.

Agree, but that doesn’t explain why half the east stand hardly celebrated the goal we scored, few claps and everyone just sat back down, it was weird.

It started it could be argued against Stoke City in March 2023. Apart from a couple of games, it's been feeding off each other, flat home crowd , lacklustre team performance.

The home atmosphere is absolutely sh!te though. And the club has dropped an unbelievable clanger by moving the red faction down a tier.

Bit this home form is inexcusable. It's undefendable.

I thought we played reasonably well first half, the ref seemed to kill any momentum by letting them get away with pulls and cynical fouls without any bookings.

Second half Carrick tried something different and it didn't come off..its something I have wanted to see for a while, swap Doaks to left wing when Jones comes on.
Quite a few looked leggy the last 20 minutes when we needed more energy.

We should bring a couple in this window, a powerful CM to rotate is a must, even if Morris is fit as it will take him a while to get back to his best.

Those that weren't sat playing games on their mobile phones? I could have snatched it off of the lad's hand infront of me. Watched absolutely zero of the game. Occasionally lifted his head up when he knew something had just happened. This is part of what is wrong at the Riverside, but the un-inspiring performances on the pitch don't help either against relegation fodder

If we had better home form but worse on the road then I'm sure this toxic atmosphere wouldn't be anyway near as bad, but you **** your home crowd off then you are going to feel the heat even if it seems unreasonable.

I’d guess we are no where near the top of the home form table.

It’s all well and good getting into the playoffs but what do we think the opposition would do, should we get there?

The fans could definitely do more. I felt Carrick was subtly hinting at this in his post-match interview, when he said it's up to him, the staff, players and fans to create that energy.

Our style of football definitely doesn't get fans off their seats however. It can be beautiful to watch but sometimes just playing with that little bit more urgency can spark a reaction in the crowd.

The football has been dull and the results poor at home for a season and a half.
It is unbelievable to deflect blame onto the home support.
The crowd pay very high prices to watch dull football that isn't winning football.
Don't be sticking the boot into the crowd Carrick, look a bit closer to home.

Hardly anyone goes to the match "with the lads" anymore. It's fathers taking their young kids and young couples going together eating sausage rolls like Lady & the Tramp. No surprise it sounds like a morgue in there. A monumental reduction in price is the only thing that will improve things, but we all know that isn't going to happen. Lads would rather just sit in a warm pub and watch it with a pint

Ok but it’s been like this since hooliganism was policed better. It’s not like it was all perfect in the 80s and 70s.

I’m not bothered about the atmosphere at home games.

I’m bothered about not winning games against lesser teams.

Sort that on a consistent basis & maybe the atmosphere might return.

As for the red faction 🥱👎 We are not Marseille, we don’t have “Ultras”

Championship football generally the atmosphere seems poor these days.
Unless it's a big game, Blackburn v Burnley was decent today.

English stadiums are dead but the riverside must be up there as one of the worst. Most of the “supporters” around me only open their mouths to criticise, no wonder the players look nervous half the time.

It's cumulative thing , the mostly poor home performances have been going on for too long, at least they are turning up and showing some attention to the players , I remember under Wilder and the first few months of carrick the crowd were upnforbit.

Exactly this for me. People are so fast to complain & indulge in making the riverside miserable.

Back the team for 90 minutes! Why pay your money to do otherwise?
