Digital Ticketing Available For All North Stand Season Cards

Optional take-up will remain low until they sort out the ability to share/forward tickets.
Ah - now I understand the question you have been asking me. You mean to ask about forwarding tickets to others without a printed ticket?
As an example you mean you want to forward your season ticket to a friend or family for a match that you cannot make?
And you want to do this totally digitally. But you cannot. Is that what you are saying.

I’m in the latest batch, being in block 23. Reading through the guidance, I’m a little confused as there are contradictory statements about this very point. It does seem that as long as the potential recipient is in my ‘Friends and Family’ group, I will be able to transfer. Is this correct? Are there restrictions in the number in this group? I’d much prefer to use my phone, but need to be confident I can transfer easily and reliably.

Is this what atypical means as well -
Can you have both ie a physical card and digital ticket
One cancels out the other - so you could only gain one entry with either/or. Once the green light comes on at the turnstile for card or phone the other is deactivated until the next game.
Does that make sense?

So whats the point of having two methods when only one is needed. I would have thought as soon as you sign up to the digital app your card would be deactivated forever.

Surely if potential recipient are in your ‘Friends and Family’ group they will be match goers anyway possible even season ticket holders.

Basically when the turnstiles were upgraded this season it was an opportunity to "future proof" and make them able to go digital with mobile phones. Many other grounds of similar age took the same decision. Our turnstiles desperately needed an upgrade but this way we could also kill two birds etc. Obviously they would hope that once you have used your phone you would always use your phone. Then you don't have the worry of forgetting your card etc. Once you get used to it then it will be as quick as with a card but then also in future you will be able to get more and more benefits without needing a printer or without a paper ticket. Surely in the next few years away tickets will be possible and people will not have the worry about whether the post will arrive in time etc.
Not good for ticket collectors however.

Not necessarily. Many of my wider family cannot afford a season ticket, nor our walk-up prices. We miss about 30% of the games due to holidays and other commitments and it’s good to see others make use of our tickets.

Going digital just isn’t worth the hassle for me at the moment for the forwarding reasons mentioned above.

My dad usually misses 3 or 4 games a season, and even if I don’t give his ticket away, it’s easier just to have the physical card so I can easily get his free pint!

Yes that's exactly it. It's not ideal having to remember to call the ticket office every time I can't make a midweek game. Especially as they will only send the paper tickets to my own address in Manchester, but my Dad (who goes instead) lives in Teesside.

I can't see much advantage to a season ticket holder having a digital copy of their season ticket. I can carry my physical card in my phone cover holder. There is the disadavantage that they are totally dependent on the phone working/been available if a ST holder goes exclusively digital.

For paper tickets its a bit different, but season ticket holders don't use paper for home games.

If he’s not I am. This is to me the main advantage of digitising season tickets and for me, it is a massive advantage. It’s why I want to embrace them once this functionality exists. Also, if we could get on a single platform, the advantages of being able to do this with away tickets too would be profound, as I don’t have to arrange convoluted meetings to pass some bits of paper before away games. Let’s get in the 21st-century and do it properly.

They will print a ticket out, available for collection from the ticket office.
