Derby - up a creek without a paddle

Well the natives here are definitely restless and there is disgruntlement with the way the club's run, but as usual fans are thrashing out at the authorities, so the EFL is getting some shade as is Gibson. So the response from me has really been to remind them that it's their owner that has got them in the clart not Gibson.

Sad times, normally a decent set of fans and no animosity (except when we trouser them on a regular basis) so it's all a bit sour. I do feel sorry for them though, club's been run by cheats.

Here is the list of players derby have in their squad and explians details further 😂😂😂😂 it's a great read

Derby's available players
They really can't help themselves with the old woe is me attitude can they? Even at the end of a pretty informative article like that they descend into talk of "EFL spite", "deliberately confining Derby to relegation", and "laughing in the faces of our fans".

The heirarchy of that club are the only ones to blame for the mess they currently find themselves in. And let's face it plenty of their fans were certainly laughing in the face of the EFL at the end of the court proceedings.

theyre on their knees begging the EFL to relax their rulings on the transfer embargo.

theres not a chance of that, is there ?

they may well have been better off taking the hit, losing points and going down - them V sunlun would be a big game.

'Something has to give' - Wayne Rooney fields questions on Derby County transfer embargo

The Rams remain under a transfer embargo with less than three weeks to go before the Championship season starts

Wayne Rooney was again asked about Derby County's transfer embargo following Sunday's defeat by Manchester United.

The Rams are operating under an embargo and unable to sign players as things stand.

They are restricted to free agents on year-long deals and half-season loans, but they are also hampered by the issue of clubs under embargo being allowed 23 players of 'professional standing'.

Players of 'Professional Standing' are those who are deemed to have made an appearance in any senior club game. With a number of Derby academy players having featured in January's FA Cup tie against Chorley because of a coronavirus outbreak, they are deemed as players of 'Professional Standing' taking Derby to their full quota.

The club is in discussions with the EFL about this issue.

Rooney is keen to bolster his squad and eight free agents are training with Derby - Phil Jagielka, Ravel Morrison, Sone Aluko, Sam Bladock, Richard Stearman, Ryan Allsop, Curtis Davies and Andre Wisdom.

Jagielka, Morrison, Aluko, Baldock and Davies started in Sunday's friendly against United, Stearman came on as a substitute.

Rooney was asked about the situation following the game and here's what he said ...

What is realistic this season?

Rooney:
"I don't want to talk about the takeover or the embargo, which we are under at the minute, I would rather focus on the players who are here and who are contracted to us. The players who have come in have shown a great attitude to come in and be ready for us if we can bring them in, and I have been delighted with all of them. I just have to keep working and keep preparing the team as best I can for that first game."

How tough a challenge is it?

Rooney:
"It is a challenge, it's not ideal, it's something you are constantly aware of, constantly trying to get answers but at the minute I'm still not getting what I want and what the club want, so I have to just focus on the players, otherwise I'd be wasting too much of my time on that side of it."

Are you working on the players who don't have contracts will have contracts by the time the season starts?

Rooney: "Something has to happen. It has to. For instance, if you look at my squad of players, if nothing changes I haven't got one centre back. So I think in order for us to compete in this league this season something has to change, something has to give. I have to prepare the team on the basis that will happen, that is what I am doing."

If nothing changes will you carry on as manager?

Rooney: "Listen, I said last season season, I will do my best for this club. This club has given me an opportunity to go into management and I'll do everything I can to make sure I get the team ready for this season. Of course I need help, I need that support, and I believe that support will come. I could do with it now (he smiles), I could do with it quicker than where it's been, but I just have to be focused on the lads and be confident that will happen."

Maybe we’d be in the prem now had we made playoffs instead if them few seasons back . That’s the kind of effects their cheating actions have . It’s probably Gona get messy , I hope points won against them don’t effect us should they not complete a season .

Seems teh EFL have accepted that when they played the FA cup with kids, those single match kids won't now be calculated as 'professional standing players'. So yeah they can sign a number, I think 5, players who are free agents (subject to the contract being acceptable by the EFL, wage limits) on 1 year contracts, and loans but only 6 month and the parent club playing the entire wages. So it's still going to be very very difficult for them. It's why 38 year old JAgielka and 36 Davies are being lined up

Well they can now sign players so EFL have helped them out again
I think it's a fair decision considering that the youth players only played that game due to a covid outbreak. It's the definition of extreme circumstances. It's also right that they're limited to loans and free agents on short term deals. I don't think it's going to give them much of an advantage next season.

About to name their preferred bidder - Kirchner -he put in an offer3 months ago and it was knocked back

kirchner was then looking to take over Preston NE, but talks collapsed - he has gone back to derby, and this time, unlike 3 months ago, theyre in no position to turn him down

Reminded of a Half Man Half Biscuit track;

"My girlfriend looks like Peggy Mount, what am I supposed to do?
I'm up the creek and never mind the paddle, I haven't even got a canoe!"

should that be his genuine account - shirley , he wont pass the 'fit and proper' exam - as football pushes for equality, those comments are redneck homophobe.
The 'fit and proper' test for the EFL is an extraordinarily low bar. If you have no fraud convictions, are not an undischarged bankrupt, don't own another EFL club and appear to have cash then you've passed. Tw*ts welcome
