I'd like to see malley play again. Has he had any minutes this year? Could be just what the doctor ordered in our midfield which I think is the root of our problems. Alternatively he may be way out of his depth. Would be good to find out though.

Its absolutely true that he should have played the youngsters more at the back end of the season.

However the pressure is still on to win these meaningless matches. The team's form in these meaningless games is being used in this thread to bash the manager.

There's more pressure in the prem because there are fewer games. The pressure in the championship comes from the we must be promoted this season or we lose X players and get left further behind mantra. This is extremely counter productive.

And that's fine if we then go on to win those matches, but we in the main, didn't.

Whether we lose or win the matches has nothing to do with my point which is the reasoning why he did not play young players in those games. Namely the short termism among fans and chairmen that leads to managers not looking after the long term interests of the club.

The only difference this week to previous weeks is he has no choice on the 11 selected as they are the only ones he has available . It will still be 11 blokes randomly placed on the field but with no clue as to what they are supposed to be doing. Put me down for a 2-0 win

If I were a young defender at the Boro I would be very disillusioned that even with an extensive injury list the manager ( possibly) could rearrange the defence by playing senior professionals in those positions- arguably out of position. Hasn’t Warnock previously bigged up some of the younger defenders?

Warnock's comments on this don't make any sense. Malley, Kokolo, Sivi and Coburn have all been involved anyway and the others are u21.
The real reason last time I reckon was because the u23s played Friday night. and he's probably trying to make points about squad depth.
